Well, when I have it ready and I’ll put the link but I’ll take a while

Thanks for letting me put it duimon

Here’s a new WIP shot of the PDP-1 and the in progress punched paper tape reader.

This thing is really, really tough to do. There just aren’t good detailed images of the reader. I will keep searching for info, things will probably change as I learn more. I might try to find some technical info on the thing. Maybe learning how it works can help me along. :innocent:

Hey @Duimon, I just tried the Commodore Amiga core PUAE and noticed you don’t have a preset for this machine ?

Thank you akuma22, I’m looking forward to them. No rush though :grinning:

You are correct. While I will eventually do at least an Amiga 4000 Tower graphic, out of respect for @TheNamec’s awesome work, I am deferring it until much later.

Have patience. :upside_down_face: I am sure he is planning on blessing us with his collection soon. (Unlike my obsession, I’m sure he has a RL that takes priority.)

OK then. I took what I learned from the new images, along with the video they were captured from, and made some changes.

And here is my first attempt at the custom baked-in lighting.

I think I am in a good place. (Although the lighting definitely needs some work.) Time to put this on the shelf again and get something else done.

Well… I decided to toy with this some more. I made another attempt at the lighting. I also changed the color of the glass layer, made some tweaks to phosphor persistence, and turned on GTU.

I also added in a modified version of the original’s raster background.

Boy does this look cool when your playing it!

Incredible! Must look insane with all the lights blinking!

I have decided to do another of my Arcade Originals individual games.

Galaxian^3 : Project Dragoon.

This theme park attractionn was a beast! You can read up on it here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxian3:_Project_Dragoon

I’d like to commit to eventually doing all of my Arcade Original games but there is no core that can do all the Logic Board games. (I am using the DICE stand-alone emulator for those.) Although MAME does 3 or 4. (i.e PONG & Breakout.)

For any of you unaware:

My Arcade Originals project is a collection of 76 games with historical significance. It was a project I did a couple of years before I started this one. It uses Rocketlauncher and 3 or 4 stand-alone emulators, along with MAME, to emulate the games. It also has Rocketlauncher pause screens that let you pause the games and read/view information/graphics related to the the games. It was a fairly complicated project.

The source and graphics are available on my GitHub.

I think with some Advance shader trickery the Galaxian^3 (With the screen surround showing reflections.) would look pretty cool. (The lamps on top would have to be a separate layer since they are supposed to be covering the screen.)

(Please disregard the Atari 2600 decal on the bottom. This was a quick & dirty hack and I forgot to remove it.)

Call me obsessed.

I did some more work on the PDP-1.

I have added it to the repo in case anyone wants to give it a spin. There is a Readme in the PDP-1 graphics folder with instructions.

BTW. I have included a custom night layer in the preset. While the lighting is baked in, (So it doesn’t really need night lighting.) you never know what color of night light the lab had back in those days.

With the Night Layer HSV you can choose your own favorite.

I love the night versions and since the game is vector it looks great :+1: :+1: :+1:

I continue with the arcade theme, I have decided to make a horizontal and a vertical shader, I have decided this because switching with the switch gives a lot of problems, I understand that it may not be comfortable to have to apply the shader to all vertical games and then save or have all vertical games in a single folder, but in the end it is the simplest and in my case the only solution.

I put here a test of a version of vertical final burn, the cabinet I have made it narrower, the controls I have lowered them more, the screen is not as big as I would like but bigger is impossible, the background is not definitive in fact I’m thinking of making two versions, one with that background and the other with a more elegant and simple background.

Nice work on maximizing screen real-estate!

The auto switching only really works perfect with MAME. Almost all other cores do vertical differently. There has been talk about it, the consensus is that MAME does it the best way for the shader system.

I plan on doing separate vertical presets for all 3 soon, so people can use them as they need.

Looks awesome! In my case, I only have 15 or so arcade games so having to manually apply either horizontal or vertical shaders isn’t a huge deal for me.

True, with final burn it gives a lot of problems due to the vertical configuration, it’s crazy to put everything right once you have loaded the shader.

With Mame it is the best but the problem is that if you touch the configuration in the vertical version the horizontal is also modified, also with my vertical versions I cannot use the graphics of the controls of the horizontal versions because they are outside the cabinet.

I am one of those who has thousands of games in Mame but it is not a problem, the horizontal version is simply applied to the desired core and then if you load a vertical game you apply the vertical shader and save the settings only for that game, It is not a problem.

By the way I am going to do it for Mame and Final Burn but I have also been trying to do it for Cps1, Cps2, Cps3 … including making companies and making one for Capcom, another for Konami, for Sega, for Namco. … I don’t know, that’s what I’m thinking.

I leave a premature version of Capcom’s CPS2 board.

I’m thinking that if I cut a hole in the background, we can use the “Use Image For Placement (Scale & Y Pos)” parameter to have different screen scales on horizontal and vertical.

I’ll have to do some testing.

That’s some dedication! I wish you the best of luck. :grinning: Personally, even if I’m using cores other than MAME, I’ll probably just stick to the MAME one as that’s basically the catch-all version. Having more variety is always nice though. Are you planning on releasing them bit by bit? Or are you going to wait until you’re done with all of them to release them?

I will go up it little by little, but first I want to have everything much more advanced and more polished, as soon as I have the mame and the final burn I will go much faster.

When I have some companies done I will start launching, the first ones I will do are Namco, Irem, Sega and Konami as well as cps1, cps2 and cps3 from capcom.

I have to make a list of companies that I am going to do.
