Emutastic & EmuDOS - Two New Open Source Frontends

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a couple of open-source projects I’ve been working on that are built around Libretro cores.

Emutastic

Emutastic is a desktop frontend inspired by the simplicity of OpenEmu, but built for Windows with a focus on modern Libretro features. Some highlights:

  • Full RetroAchievements integration, including support for cores that many frontends don’t fully handle
  • One of the few frontends with complete RetroAchievements support for the Geolith core
  • Built-in game recording
  • Shader support
  • In-app ROM hack management or import pre-hacked roms
  • Cloud sync via GitHub
  • Manual downloads, game notes, and a visual theme editor

EmuDOS

EmuDOS takes a different approach. It’s designed around a DOS-style retro computing experience while still leveraging modern emulation capabilities underneath. The goal is to provide a nostalgic environment that’s fun to use.

Both projects are free, open source, and actively developed. I’m interested in feedback from Libretro users, especially if there are features you’d like to see improved or added.

Thanks for taking a look.
