Flycast: Internal Resolution not working correctly

As the topic states, if I raise it above the default 320x240, blackness starts encroaching from the right and above. The higher the internal res, the larger the space it becomes.

At 1440x1080

At default 320x240

I’ve tried disabling integer based scaling, forced ratios instead of core, windowed/fullscreen, same thing regardless.

Have you tried ‘close content’ and then reopen it?

…well, dang. The one thing I hadn’t thought of trying. I suppose it doesn’t properly update the rendering without essentially a core reload. That seems to have worked. Just used to other emulators updating the internal resolution without any issue, so it never came to mind.

640x480 is default btw.

That’s related to how well the emulator handle the re-creation of hardware context, some other emulators actually have similar issues when increasing resolution, another symptom of this context re-creation issue is that those cores usually don’t handle toggling fullscreen/windowed well.
