From my understanding there are two kinds of cheat codes. The ones that alter the ROM itself and the ones the alter the RAM of the game. Game Genie codes are exclusively ROM codes whilst Pro Action Replay supports both ROM and RAM codes.
I have Genesis Plus GX setup on a Windows 10 x64 PC. I have all the required and optional bios files in my system folder. In the Core Options I have selected Pro Action Replay as the lock-on cartridge. When loading a cheat file from RetroArch I can successfully activate and use PAR ROM cheats but PAR RAM cheats (the ones starting with FF) never seem to work. I always enable the cheats I want and then restart and the resume the game.
Is there something else I have to do to get these cheats working? Am I missing something or is there a problem with the core?
