Interlacing options in 0.932 possibly causing compatibility issues?

While attempting to run Saga Frontier using the latest version of RetroArch I ran into an issue in which a black screen WITH audio was all that I could get. I asked around about it and was told it may be an issue with the new interlacing options in the latest release. It works fine in standalone Mednafen which is what lead us to this conclusion.

Version 0.9.32 you mean?

It might be that Ryphecha updated the deinterlacer code in 0.9.31 to account for this - we didn’t update that part of the code since we kinda wrote our own frontend code around the Mednafen cores. Something either me or maister could look into later today.

Well, tried downloading Saga Frontier. Played for 10 mins and didn’t see anything wrong. Is this far out into the game? If so, I’d like memory card files.

Which rom did you use if you don’t mind me asking? The issue I experienced didn’t allow me to play anything. I believe I used a file from coolrom, because it was the first google result.

Disable BIOS skipping under core options, that should correct the problem. Git version has been updated to make that setting default to off, and it may be removed if too problematic.

Thank you, that fixed it.
