Is the Mupen64plus Next core as robust as the old Mupen64plus one?

Currently I’m only using the new Mupen64plus Next libretro core on the N64 games that suffered from graphical bugs that newer versions of GlideN64 ironed out (games with HD texture packs and F-Zero). For rom-hacks I use the ParaLLel N64 core.

On the other N64 games, I’m still using the now deprecated Mupen64plus libretro core, just to be safe.

In my eyes Mupen64plus Next is still a rather new N64 libretro core, and I haven’t tested it out that much. It seems like the old Mupen64plus core has been removed from the Online Updater in RetroArch now as well; maybe that’s a sign of the Next core having matured enough to do the old Mupen64plus core’s heavy lifting?

What’s your thoughts on the current state of the Next core; do you think it’s in a state now that it can fully replace the old Mupen64plus core on most of the N64 games?

the ‘next’ core has indeed replaced the old one, which was unmaintained. The ‘next’ one has some rendering issues on some platforms, with missing textures/polygons, but when/where it works it works better than the old one in all respects, AFAIK.
