Killer Instinct

How do I make the Killer Instinct mame version work on retroarch? I’ve used all the cores and it doesn’t work, can someone help me?

Killer Instinct isn’t any different from any other arcade game. Make sure you read our documentation for arcade emulation here: https://docs.libretro.com/guides/arcade-getting-started/

KI 1 and 2 stopped working in 0.275, it is possible that it is not a core bug, because the main branch, the standalone, does not work either.

The MAME people should already be aware of this and fixed in the next version coming out in a few days, but if you desperately need to play Killer Instinc you can use the 0.274 core (or earlier), the MAME 2003 Plus, 2010 or another MAME core that supports the game.

I was just playing KI 1 and 2 in the 0.275 MAME Current core a week or so ago, so… :man_shrugging:

Since I upgraded to 0.275, both core and standalone stopped working, on the other hand, 0.274 works very well, maybe it is a hardware configuration issue.

There are also many 3D games that stopped working, is this a new feature that comes from 0.274.

After several years, we’ve decided it’s time to start taking advantage of features of newer (or at least slightly less outdated) CPUs. Starting with MAME 0.274, official Windows binary releases will require so-called x86-64-v2 features. These features have been available in all popular x86-64 CPUs for close to a decade. They were introduced in the following CPU families:

Intel “Nehalem” (2008), or “Silvermont” (2013) for low-power CPUs AMD “Bulldozer” (2011), or “Jaguar” (2013) for low-power CPUs VIA “Nano C” and “Eden C” (both 2015)
