Now I just get a black screen when I try to load the ISO.
Maybe my log file will help you. But I couldn’t see anything in it.
There doesn’t seem to be an update function in the Steam version.

[libretro ERROR] Failed to read resource file to string 'GameIndex.yaml'
You need to download this file: https://buildbot.libretro.com/assets/system/LRPS2.zip and take the GameIndex.yaml file out of it and put it into [system]/pcsx2/resources directory.
Unfortunately, inserting this file didn’t help.
You can just get it through the online downloader in Retroarch. All the steps you need to do are listed here, in the original blog entry, from when LRPS2 was released.

The Steam version of RetroArch has no online updater.
Oh right… Steam. lol. I promise not to jump in this thread any more if you put “Steam” in the thread subject.
aside from the GameIndex file, I dunno, but a log of it crashing may tell us more.
Here is the log file again after I inserted the GameIndex.yaml.
hmm, i don’t see any errors in there, and it looks like it’s shutting down properly there at the end, rather than crashing.
Have you tried the NTSC version (assuming there is one) to see if it acts the same?
I downloaded Dog’s Life (USA).iso because I read that the USA uses NTSC. Unfortunately, the same problem. I’m attaching a log, but I don’t think there’s anything in there. ´
Weird. No crashes with that game on my end, even with the same PAL BIOS.
