MagicHat's OrionsAngel Mega Bezel MAME Arcade Setup - Pack 6 Out

It’s possible but you will need a very high end phone/device to use them. I have an AYN Odin 2 Pro with a Qualcomm snapdragon 8Gen 2 processor (8 cores at 3.20Ghz) an Adreno 730 GPU, and 12GB of RAM.

I can emulate every system up to the PS2 easily but can only run the Potato Mega Bezel base presets, and they won’t work for these presets.

I only update mine after he puts out a new numbered pack release with them all bundled together. Any of the additional ones that he releases on his thread after pack 5 will not be included in mine until 6 is out. I would rather spend the time doing a group of 20-30 all at once on my end of things and then update my thread with an easy way of identifying which ones are included based on his actual numbered “Packs” that he releases.

As hgoda pointed out over in OrionsAngels thread to you, OrionsAngel hasn’t created a Wonder Boy one which is meant specifically for the Mega Bezel shader. There’s a huge difference between his old work which were static bezels around the game and his new work which are meant to account for the dynamic mega bezel. You can not just take an older one that has the static bezel in the image itself and fit it into working with the mega bezel. Part of his edit process for updating old ones so they can use the new mega bezel is to cleanly cut out the old static bezel and also other enhancements to the overall image. He’ll release more when time permits on his end of things.

Thanks again for explaining this to her and that’s exactly the reason for that behavior. You can not simply take older images that have static bezels included (or glass effects over them) and have it plug and play working in this system. Nor can y ou just duplicate the .params from one game to the next. Every single game .params is custom. I’ve set those parameters while in each game to line things up how I personally wanted them to be.

Personally, out of respect for OrionsAngel, I don’t think anyone should be modifying his actual art work that he’s put together. At minimum, even if he’s OK with it, I would think it’s best to keep it 100% personal on your end and do not post pictures or repackage it and release it here. He does a fantastic job with his work and adds a lot of enhancements to these images beyond just removing the old static bezels. He obviously enjoys doing this as a hobby so it just seems right for the community to allow him to do his own thing with his own work to retro fit old work for the mega bezel if he chooses to or not. If you do go down that route and start modifying his work, please do not post or talk about them in my thread. I’ve talked to him up front long ago and he gave me the green light to repackage his work up as I’ve done. So I would like to keep this thread focussed on just official releases from him repackaged in this format.

Hi, thanks for your amazing work.

I have a problem with vertical games. I use your latest release, the latest nightly of RetroArch, the latest official MegaBezel and the mame2003plus core on a FullHD Projector. I haven’t touched any of your preset files, so I think it must be a retroarch/core configuration that is wrong.

Would be amazing if somebody pushes me in the right direction, thank you.

They all look like this. Horizontal games are all OK.

@MagicHat, Pac-Man also needs some adjusting.

Is Tate Mode turned on in Core Settings under Video?

Yes, Tate mode is on.

Another thing I noticed: Strangley some vertical games are 90° rotated to the left and some are rotated to the right

Turning it off should fix the issue.

Nope

Mine is lined up on my end. Did you modify any of the config files for other things on your end that might play into this? I know your knowledgeable on parameters and like to do your own tweaks. Check your \RetroArch\config\MAME

Do you have a pacman.slangp in there in addition to my config over in

\RetroArch\shaders\Mega_Bezel_Packs\OrionsAngel_MagicHat_Arcade\CORE-ASPECT-ORIENT-VERT\

Double check these? (from mega bezel thread)

I noticed you mentioned your running this on a projector. Assuming your resolutioin is 1920x1080?

I haven’t changed anything on my end.

Thanks, problem solved. It works now with:

Core/Allow Rotation: Off (that one I have missed) and Tate Mode: Off

What happened? giphy

Awesome! Glad you like my bezels. :blush:

The preset settings I got on my end with no overrides:

#reference "_base.params"
HSM_ASPECT_RATIO_EXPLICIT = "1.303300"
HSM_NON_INTEGER_SCALE_OFFSET = "91.700020"
HSM_SCREEN_POSITION_Y = "7.000000"
HSM_BZL_WIDTH = "150.000000"
HSM_BZL_HEIGHT = "125.000000"

ScreenPlacementImage = "pacman.png"
BackgroundImage = "pacman.png"

Just wanna say, love this! Before I found this I loved the idea of bezels, but rarely used them since allot cut off sometimes huge parts of the screen (i didnt know you could adjust or move the display before) so often didnt use them. But i found mega bezels recently and fell in love and found yours and a few other packs and now almost all games i play with bezels!
