Mednafen Beetle PSX HW core crashing upon content load

I have troubles trying to run games on the Beetle PSX HW core as it crash upon loading the content, I had put the BIOS file correctly on the ‘system’ folder and the core doesn’t complain about missing bios or wrong MD5 of the files…

However as I start the content RetroArch crashes with the message: “This application has stopped working”…as a side note I successfully ran games on the Beetle PSX SW libretro core…

My OS is Windows 7 and my videocard is a GeForce 9600GT that supports OpenGL 2.1, could that be the problem?

Yes, that is almost certainly the issue. Hardware rendering requires a fairly modern GPU with GL 3.x+ or vulkan, IIRC.

Thank you! I will seriously try to upgrade to a newer rig because right now I am having a blast using RetroArch with the Beetle SW core on 2D games, it really runs everything with no issues and butter smooth…

As nice as the hardware rendering is, if you’re getting by with software rendering, you can use shaders to help out a lot, and the software renderer can do increased resolution if your CPU is strong enough (probably not more than 2x, but even that goes a long way).

Thanks for the Tip, I am not to used to get help on forums and yours was a nice first experience…
