I hope this is the place I’d post something like this. Standalone Mednafen works fine with Soul Blade, however in Retroarch when you try and save no memory card is found. I’ve tried creating the memory card using standalone Mednafen and copying the mcr to the Retroarch system directory but no dice.
RetroArch saves should be in srm format, I believe, and they’re created in the ROM directory by default (i.e., unless you set your ‘save’ directory to somewhere else). Do other PSX games save successfully for you?
I think you misunderstand me, I’m not after a save state but rather the actual Playstation memory card save. If I load up any other game an mcr file will be created, e.g. Tekken 3.3890b2201ea266f73cdc0639a122a174.1.mcr, but this doesn’t happen with Soul Blade.
Ah, yeah, i see what you mean. I’m not sure what could be amiss with that one game that makes it behave differently, but you might be out of luck for the time being until someone can take a look at it.
In the meantime, if you can get your hands on a copy of the PCSX-ReARMED core, you might have better luck.
There was a fix that will be found in the next version of the Mednafen PSX core that should fix this. There were some issues with memory cards with Crash Bandicoot games, and this version fixed that. I have not tried Soul Blade.

What is the situation with the Windows cores in Windows RetroArch? Are they so outdated that they are lagging months behind?
Who is actually updating this stuff? Is anybody updating it?
If nobody is going to put some serious effort into keeping these updated at least weekly, then it seems like I will have to take that on myself then as well - because this is kinda shitty to be having builds on an ‘Updater’ service that are THIS outdated.
Last update was 19th may. I do Windows buids, but I mostly only do it per-request, i.e. now.
EDIT: All cores updated.
Weekly might be too much. Maybe a monthly thing. Something automated that builds and uploads it automatically.
