So i am trying to get NEO GEO CD working, only my MESS core is gone… i have a MESS2014 core. The problem is that if i select that core its says NO CORE in the left bottom side…
Latest MAME versions are arcade + MESS in the same emulator. That’s what happen in retroarch too with mame_libretro.
Get mame_libretro.dll + its info file, be sure to have all the stuff needed in your system dir in a “mame” folder (hash, cheats…).
I still see the older mess2014 core in the buildbot though, it’s not gone. (this one needs a system/mess2014 folder).
So if i understand you correctly. If i want to run NEO GEO CD i use MAME2014 core, inside my system folder i make a folder called mame and in that folder i put the hash folder.
But if i select the mame2014 core i cant select the cue files in the neo geo cd folder.
I think i mis something.
No, mame2014 doesn’t have the mess part, it’s in mess2014. If you want to use mess2014 you need the system/mess2014/hash folder (hash folder from mess 0.162 probably?).
Or you use Arcade (MAME) the one called mame_libretro.dll in the buildbot. This one is Mame 0.170 which is mame + mess. And it uses system/mame/hash (you take from mame standalone 0.170).
Then Mame/Mess uses a particular naming for their roms, CHD and directories you have to comply to.
Sorry to ressurect this, but it seemed better than making a new thread.
I can’t get this to work, even following your instructions to the letter. It still says “No core.”
I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer. The new MAME works fine for what I’m trying to do (Atari 5200 games), but I can’t stand the resolution problems. Bringing up the tab menu is unreadable, and I’m hoping to get MESS working so I can actually navigate the internal menu.
I’ve tried downloading multiple versions of the hash, I tried 165 (saw it in a youtube video explaining how to make MESS work in retroarch), and I’m currently using 162. I’ve tried renaming the folder in system (I have my system folder set to ROMS\Bios) to mess, mame, mess2014. Nothing seems to be working.
Awesome! Thank you so much!
I need to give this a shot when I get back home tonight! I’ve been struggling with this core for a couple months now (on and off). As result, several systems (Atari 5200, Intellivision, GX4000 etc) Are all setup in my frontend, but completely unplayable hahaha.
I have atari5200 loading from playlist if you would like it?
