Mupen64Plus Cheats?

Hello,

I’m a noob on the libretro forums, so I apologize if the answer to this is obvious. Is there any work being done on creating Gameshark or any cheat code support for Mupen64Plus? I’m asking because I don’t want to beat these games again to unlock all of the features. It’d be really nice just to have all unlockables available by simply entering cheats. What’s the development status of this, if any?

Thanks.

I’m pretty new to the forums myself.

Do other systems have Game-Genie or GameShark features integrated? I’d totally forgotten about these devices. I remember using codes on ZSNES like 15 years ago when I first got into emulation… but completely forgot about it since then.

I agree I’d love to force certain things to unlock because going all the way through a game, so you can do it again with a costume or something is stupid lol.

What games are we talking about here?

If you want saves for games beaten then go here first:

These are for Project64 so you have to convert them using pj64tosrm which I have attached here in this post.

That should get you going I suppose.

Agreed SkyHighGam3r. From what I know, NES, SNES, Saturn, and PS1 are the consoles that I’m positive have game cheat support in Retroarch. There are probably more. Check out the wikis for each core to see if they support cheats.

Thanks a lot SigmaVirus! I was going crazy trying to import my Project64 saves. Hopefully this will alleviate those issues. My hope is that this works with all save file types, as the N64 has many (i.e. .eep, .mpk (for memory packs), etc.). However, Retroarch seems to only support .srm as a save file. Do you know if this software allows all file extensions to become .srm without corrupting the file?

To your knowledge does Retroarch have this problem with other platforms/cores? Obviously, if you have cheats supported for the core you can circumvent this issue. Since Retroarch for me is my one stop shop for emulation, I’m looking at this as a possible issue.

You can convert any of the Project64 save types with ease using pj64tosrm, all you do is drag and drop your save file one at a time to either the x86 or x64 pj64tosrm binary and you’re done. I have converted all my save games with this tool and it has not corrupted anything because iirc it leaves the original saves untouched when it’s done.

Always make backups though, good luck!

Downloading saves isn’t adequate in some situations, for example where a cheat code is necessary to overcome a flaw in the emulation, e.g. Pokemon Snap.

I’m extremely ignorant if there are any huge hurdles to implementing functionality or if a code file can be built manually for a game or something, but it would certainly be valuable if some form of… something worked at least.
