Does anyone know the best solution for getting HDR to work when using any of the N64 cores? I tried “prefer layered on DXGI Swapchain” under Vulkan/OpenGL present method in Nvidia control panel, but all that does is force HDR on for the application - it doesn’t make the HDR settings menu in Retroarch appear.
I use ParaLLel RDP and ParaLLel RSP in Mupen64 Next with 4x Upscale and 1/4 Downsampling.
I just made a standalone N64 Composite preset (CyberLab Megatron miniLED 4K HDR Game BFI N64 Composite Shadow Mask Epic.slangp) that I found acceptable in my miniLED Epic preset pack. Previously, I was using NES presets for N64.
I also prefer to use Vulkan in Native mode in nVidia Control Panel. That setting seems to reset after I update my graphics drivers.
What does your N64 setup look like currently?
As a sidenote, I strongly suggest you take a look at the latest nightly as it brings several quality of life improvements especially for us who dabble in tweaking shader presets.
Last night I was unable to combine my Mega Bezel shader presets with Video Filter Presets though.
Definitely update your Installed Cores, Core Info Files, Database, Slang Shaders and Controller Profiles as well.
That worked! Looks like it’s just a problem with GLideN64
Hello I’m new here, I’m using retroarch 64 1.21.0 for my OnePlus 12 and Nvidia shield pro 2019.
My phone shows HDR when I enable vulkan in the video settings…
My Nvidia shield however, same setup same vulkan option enabled after saving and restart… no HDR option.
The retroarch.cfg file says that HDR = true
The Nvidia shield detects my Sony a90k OLED TV as a 60hz Dolby vision with HDR10
So what’s the problem here.
Is.it possible that retro arch is not correcting sending type of HDR metadeta because of the older Nvidia tegra GPU chip? Phone is newer so it’s possible something is getting mistranslated here.
Please help cause I wanna play games in HDR on my big screen!
From what I have determined it may be a limitation on Nvidia and how they handle gpu pipelines … because Nvidia shield is not a standard android system per say … and utilizes the tegra GPU… this is why retro arch does not see HDR … something about the meta data not being transferred correctly because retroarch is not “whitelisted”.
That’s the answer chat gpt tried to let me know a possible reason why
Since my setup is correct I can only assume it’s this
