First of all, I’m way excited about how the new updates to cores were communicated on the front page. So many awesome updates and thanks to everyone who works to make this amazing. Part of these updates I cared so much about was the PCE-Fast core’s new ability to choose BIOS for games. (I had an entire second setup of RetroArch just so I could use the different boot screens, so this saved me a lot of headache!)
I had a few questions about this though…
First of all, naming the BIOS was pretty straight forward… CD-ROM^2 = syscard1.pce TurboGrafx = syscard2.pce Super CD-ROM^2 = syscard3.pce
Except, what do you name the Games Express BIOS? I tried games_express.pce as that seemed to be a common online naming scheme for it, but no dice. The emulator refuses to load once I choose that bios and I had to edit the default core options file.
The other question I had is more about how to save each type of BIOS to each type of game. So, for instance, when I play Fighting Street it boots up syscard2 for the TurboGrafx file, and then syscard3 when I need to play something like Castlevania - Rondo of Blood?
I tried saving game overrides… but it didn’t work
