I am getting the “Can’t apply shaders” message for your shader presets. Any reasons why?
You downloaded the latest guest.r updated as well? My latest pack goes with his latest update exclusively. That may not be the issue but I suppose we can try that first.
Yea I did all of that and it read “Failed to apply shader.”
Hmm. Try deleting everything (both my preset pack and the guest.r shader update) and reinstalling everything from scratch. I wanna iron out that it’s not some old file somewhere causing an issue.
Copy. I will do. I hope this will work
A user on discord recently said my presets wouldn’t load up because my “sonkun” folder had a capital “s” instead of lower case. It was a error on his end but I’m just throwing that out there.
Nah, it’s lowercase for me.
Ok. How’d it go this time around?
IDK why it doesn’t have the updated dates on here. God, I hate Windows 11
I got it to work and I forgot to update via Retroarch online updater.
Nice, always good to see a issue get resolved. Time to start gaming then.
I tested your latest release on the Samsung Galaxy S24+
I tried out Phantasy Star IV on the Sega Genesis and it worked with no slow down as far as I can tell.
Quick question though. My phone has 3 resolution settings outlined below. Which would be the best resolution to set my phone too to be compatible with your shader and which one of your presets should I be using with that resolution (4k, 1440p, or 1080p)? Also, not sure if it matters but I would be playing in landscape mode.
Phone Resolutions: 1560 x 720 2340 x 1080 3120 x 1440
Definitely not that 1560 x 720 one that’s for sure. For the other two I think I’d get a better idea if you posted a pic with both of those resolutions.
For these screenshots I didn’t apply a filter so you can see the raw image.
#1 was take at the 1560 x 720 resolution.
#2 was take at the 2340 x 1080 resolution.
#3 was take at the 3120 x 1440 resolution.
The 2nd & 3rd screenshot appear to be showing the same resolution though.
#4 has your 1080p shadow mask shader applied to the phone resolution of 1560 x 720.
#5 has your 1080p shadow mask shader applied to the phone resolution of 2340 x 1080.
Hopefully these screenshots show up ok. If you need me to upload them somewhere, please let me know.
Screenshots are perfect thanks for posting. Go with 2340x1080 for 1080p presets, those look the way Shadow Mask is intended to look at that resolution. How does the 1440p preset look with 3120x1440 resolution? I assume they’ll look just as good as the 1080p one.
Nice. Hmm, the mask looks a little chunkier than I would like. I say stick with the 1080p one for now.
Lower output resolution is also better for battery life.
Thanks for the responses. The reason I was messing with retroarch on my phone is because I’m interested in getting a dedicated retro handheld such as the Retroid Pocket 5 or Ayn Odin 2. They both have a 1920 x 1080 display (5.5 - 6 inches) and I was trying to test out what it may look like on my phone before I bought one of those handhelds. Thank you both for your work. I love your shaders. Keep up the great work!
