Not yet ported open source emulators you want to see in RetroArch?

Sameboy has been ported

Holy crap, everyone wants an Mesen core!

Donā€™t expect Mesen to show up in the buildbot anytime soon because for the longest time I thought this would happen and as we all know puNES used to be the most accurate NES/Famicom/Famicom Disk System emulator and nothing came out of the attempt of porting puNES to Libretro.

It takes time porting emulators to Libretro cores and while the idea sounds great of having one of the most accurate NES/Famicom/Famicom Disk System I wouldnā€™t get my hopes up.

for me, mesen takes up more cpu cycles than all other emu, porting it for now would mean it can only be available in few supported systems, although mesenā€™s dev did say libretro was one the the ports planned.

The next best thing would be upstream puNES master and finish the started attempt of porting it to Libretro.

As far as I know puNES is a bit more lighter than Mesen and isnā€™t quite as resource hungry.

I could live with a puNES core as I use this emulator for the most part for my Famicom/Famicom Disk System needs when Iā€™m not playing around with the Nestopia core.

Well, i want a Mesen o puNES port to retroarch, for the achievements option. A port for retroarch, or the emulator support for retroachievements themselves, this is i really want, and maybe the most want that too.

I would like to see Potator, the first Watara Supervision emulator for Windows, as a RetroArch core because it emulates the Watara Supervision better than MESS (as far as Iā€™ve heard) and I donā€™t feel like screwing with MESS anyway because itā€™s a confusing mess (pun not intended) of an emulator. Here is the GitHub link: https://github.com/alekmaul/potator That might be a link to the wrong version, so if it is, let me know and I will link to a source download I found on Zopharā€™s Domain.

P.S. Please put the compiled Android core on the Buildbot! I canā€™t compile it myself as I only have access to an Android tablet and I donā€™t have time to search the internet for the compiled core(s) only to find that when I restart RetroArch after changing the Core directory in order to load the core(s) the directory is switched back to the default data/data directory that I canā€™t edit because my device is unrootable!

Another vote for Yaba Sanshiro (uoYabause) core. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not an open source emulator, but it would be pretty cool to see a Libretro core for Streets of Rage Remake which would run on Android devices.

Pretty please? Yeah I know itā€™s probably a stretch.

A Gearboy Libretro core would be cool. The dev also seems to be interested in it

Itā€™s a nice idea. Any help, info, indications or whatever are welcome :grinning:

RetroArch needs OpenMSX. It is clearly the superior MSX emulator compared to BlueMSXā€¦ one needs to look no further than how BlueMSX speeds up and slows down ridiculously in Vampire Killer, compared to smooth, perfect speed in OpenMSX. Iā€™ve only had maybe 1% of all games Iā€™ve tested (and Iā€™ve tested a lot) not work perfectly with OpenMSX, and in fact, the only one I can think of offhand is a translation patched game.

Altirra is the best Atari 5200 emulator hands down, Iā€™d like to see a RetroArch core of that also.

Youā€™re probably forcing 50Hz by mistake.
Try to select 60Hz in core options -> VDP Sync.

Problem with Altirra is, itā€™s written for VS2015sp3 and up (MinGW is not supported), thus it wonā€™t compile on most platforms used by RA (except win8/10) thus making it unsuited to RA, as the whole emu would need to be converted to compile on MinGW

Umm, what do you think of the possibility of an Gearboy Libretro core?

The dev seems to be interested?

I just tried it with the 60HZ setting instead of ā€˜Auto,ā€™ but Simon Belmont is still a track athlete on the opening screen, then noticeably lagged as soon as the first zombie appears.

Iā€™m telling you BlueMSX is seriously flawed. I once thought the actual MSX2 system was just ā€˜like that,ā€™ until I played the same game on OpenMSX and saw how much better it played.

Gearboy looks really good, and the fact that it already has a library of the core usually means itā€™s relatively easy to libretro-ize.

Itā€™s more or less like this for me, comparable to the original machine.

  1. Amiga, Amiga & Amiga.
  2. Is there any Apple II core out there?

Yes but itā€™s not on any buildbots.
