OS X Lion build: testers welcome

I made a distributable dmg package of RetroArch + RA-Phoenix for OS X 10.7 (Lion), if someone would like to test it for me. 64-bit Intel only.

You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?iwjjlqlwrs00eba

I also built some (all?) of the libretro libraries, which you can download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?8b5fy9bny4b301y

Some notes about it: the actual retroarch executable is inside of the ‘RetroArch Binary’ subfolder. Don’t move it out of there. Likewise, the libraries RetroArch requires to run are located in the Frameworks directory, so don’t move them around either. I tested the 3 bsnes-derived libretros but none of the others.

If this package and/or libraries works for you (or doesn’t), please let me know.

I’m really here to check out the 360 version but figured I’d test the Lion version for you.

The only issue I have found so far (after stumbling through the configuration) is FBA launches vertical games rotated oddly.

Thanks!

Thanks for testing! I’m glad to hear it worked for you.

I have that same issue with vertical games on my end. That may be fixed in git now, so I’ll make some new builds and see if it fixes things up. If so, I’ll post the updates.

No, Maister has not updated FBA yet to pass the rotation values of the driver to RetroArch itself.

On PS3 and 360, you can change Rotation for yourself in the frontend GUI - on PC, this isn’t an option - so you’re reliant on the libretro port passing this information to RetroArch, which it does not yet do.

If I find some time I might try to correct it myself.

ah, thanks for the info, Squarepusher. No big hurry. It’s a pretty minor issue.

Played some bNES, bSNES (performance) & FBA. Everything is working swimmingly, thanks for sharing.

I’m glad to hear it’s working for you guys

Here’s an updated build from a recent git pull: http://www.mediafire.com/?gcdphpitfnbvcnb

and here’s an updated libretro-fba by request (pulled from last git that worked for me about 2 weeks ago; there shouldn’t be any missing emulation-related updates since then): build was bad, look down a few posts for a newer one

Hopefully, this will fix the rotation issue, as well as some romset incompatibilities. Both builds are 64-bit, Lion only.

The emulator is working fine, but the new fba.dylib won’t load any games, including ones that previously worked.

Is it giving you any kind of error in the log?

I didn’t have a chance to test it, so it could also be problem with the cross-compile. If so, I can try to recompile it directly on a mac this evening.

I press start retroarch and the emulator flickers a bit but other than that nothing happens and the log doesn’t seem to have anything interesting to say

RetroArch CMD:
/Applications/RetroArch/Retroarch Binary/retroarch
/Volumes/BOOTCAMP/Folder/Emulation/Finalburn 029726/roms/csclub.zip -c /Applications/RetroArch/retroarch.cfg -v

The other cores are still functioning normally.

Ah, yeah, looks like it was a bad build. This one should work better: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4mt2h0ah7gvdfs8

works like a charm & the fba core is currently up to date with the latest fba emulator available. thank you!

Houston I´ve got a problem

Everything is working fine for snes, genesis and pce.

With FBa, even with the latest core hunterk posted, i´m getting incompatibility with the romset. I have downloaded the full 29276 romset, and capcom - neogeo games are not working. Some others are, so I assume it´s a romset inconsistency.

Any advice? I think the latest fba core you posted it´s based on fba 29274 romset.

Otherwise Retroarch is awesome. I love the crt shaders.

I’ll try to make a new build this afternoon. I’ll update this post when it’s ready.

thank you, i´ll be waiting. Are you adding more libretro emulators to the osx port? I cannot compile them. Before I said “PCE” and i meant nes. It would be nice to have psone

I’ll build as many as I can. There are about 12 cores that are in good shape, so I’ll try to get them all if possible.

Cool. Osx is my main OS right now, also emulators for mac… well you know. Retroarch could be a very good all in one solution.

Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gczkfrd51wzl7n0

Also, check out OpenEmu. It’s a really great Mac-specific multi-emulator solution, though I think it’s hard to find publicly available builds. I would personally love to see them add dynamic libretro loading and XML shaders, since they already have an absolutely awesome GUI.

hunterk, thanks a lot. Now it loads the romset, but i´m getting a VIDEO RAM ERROR with all the neo geo titles i tried :frowning: It starts emulation, passes the green screen and then “video ram error” from the emulated neo geo. Doesn´t hang the emulator.

I can provide screenshot if you want.

Have you updated some of the other libretro cores???

Yes, all of those libraries are built from the latest git, as of 8-13-2012.

So, neogeo games are having issues but everything else (e.g., CPS1/2, etc) loads okay?
