PCSX2 D3D11 Crashing

Hi… just wanted to check to see if the pcsx2 core is actually supporting D3D11. I read in the libretto docs that it is, however if I set the renderer to D3D, games will not launch. With the OpenGL renderer they do work.

Just wanting to find out if I should be able to run with D3D, and if there might be some other problem on my end. Thanks for the help.

d3d11 is the preferred video driver for that core in Windows, yes.

Thanks… any reason it would close on launch with D3D but run ok with OpenGL that you can think of?

not offhand. you could try generating a log

Just tried to get a log, but it doesn’t seem to have saved one. Should it save one if RA is crashing?

yes, you need to enable some settings to generate a log. https://docs.libretro.com/guides/generating-retroarch-logs/#generating-logs-via-menu

Sorry about that. Looks like log to file was off by default. Here’s the log… thanks for the help.

have you tried it without the mega bezel shader?

No… the shader was working with the OpenGL renderer, so I assumed it was ok. Actually, everything in that setup was working on OpenGL, but insta-crashes with D3D. Should I try it without the shader anyway?

Yeah, try without it. In fact, mega bezel was crashing altogether on d3d11 until very recently, so if you haven’t updated your shaders in a couple of days, that may be related…

Sure enough, that seems to be the likely problem. I launched it without the shader, as you suggested and it was no problem… so I may have to update my bezel files… although it seems like I just did that, I’ll check for new ones.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate your time.

Actually, I just updated those MB files and it looks like I did have the latest version, but it still crashes, so I guess they are still having a problem with the D3D.

Using DX11 shouldn’t crash the Mega Bezel, just take a long time to load. If you have the internal resolution of the core increased, try resetting it back to the default.

Edit: Just tested on my end and the shader successfully loads in about 45 seconds. I tested using a STD base preset.

It does seem like it is just taking a long time to load (sits on the taskbar) but then just times out or something and closes.

I just tried it with native PS2 resolution and D3D, as you suggested, but it still doesn’t launch. It will launch in OpenGL even at an increased internal resolution.

edit Also just tested with a STD shader (usually use ADV) but had the same results.
