Picodrive + Blackthorne

Hello, I’m using the latest nightly and trying to play Blackthorne. The only core that supports 32X is Picodrive, the game seems to be running fullspeed but I have problems with serious input lag. Keys get ignored, or keep being pressed after I released them.

Was the same on 1.0.0.2, turnning VSync off or using sdl input driver made no difference. I’m on Windows btw.

I’m pretty sure that’s working as intended. I just fired it up and it appears to be a Prince of Persia-style game (see also: Out of This World and Flashback). They just have weird control like that.

You mean Blackthorne? The control is laggy for me with my gamepad although it works fine on Kega Fusion. And other games on Retroarch work fine of course. I know what you mean, that the game actor has specific uninterruptible animations but that’s not the problem.

Sorry for the necro, just wanted to say that I too am getting this problem which I don’t get in Kega. Really annoying that this is the one 32x game I wish to play but cannot.

Anyone have a fix for this? Or any potential of a PicoDrive update?

I’m gonna have to test this too. I haven’t tried the game myself. I hear 32X is the best version though. I may just have to setup Fusion as the alternate like I did with Star Wars. That one had horrible graphic problems in PicoDrive core.

32x is definitely the best version, it just looks and feels right. Real shame that it doesn’t quite work in pico, I set up retroarch for this game in the first place… Oh well.

I can only hope that the kega dev makes fusion open one of these days. Hoping for too much? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah PicoDrive isnt that great for 32x based stuff, the sound emulation is particularly bad…is there no other core that supports 32x?

No there is not

BlastEm’s creator wants to add 32x support eventually, but his emulator is still pretty early, so that could be years away. His emulator is focused on accuracy and speed, so it could be good. I saw it pop up in the libretro git repo recently.
