Please upgrade to MAME romsets or expect issues, MAME won't load Mac

For the longest time I been trying to get akatsuki blitzkampf ausf achse to play on my Mac ever since I got into Roms. These past few day have been the closest I’ve been getting to work. However there is a Problem whenever I run this on the Sega - Dreamcast/NAOMI (Flycast) in starts up the Naomi screen tell me this"Please upgrade to MAME romsets or expect issues" and “This Game is Not Acceptable by the Main Board” Everything is Responsive like I can open the Retroarch menu and everything But if I switch to Arcade MAME (0.214) it tell me Loading Machine 99% but never loads up at all just gives me the Mac loading beachball Retroarch completely unresponsive (like I waited an hours on that)

So is there anyway to fix this so I can either loading up on Flycast or make Mame load up like Flycast. Like I manage to Jury rigged it to work for openemu with Mame 149 and that rig runs like dogshit going down a hill (Load very slow, Audio blow out, and it crash at the very beginning of the intro.) Like if anyone has an answer or a suggestion I would absolutely hear it like I feel like i’m this close to playing it I can almost taste it.

Do you have the naomi.zip BIOS in your retroarch/system/dc/ directory? (for flycast)

For MAME you need the following files in your rom directory, but this doesn’t matter, as NAOMI support in MAME is not functional

ausfache.zip  (Rom)
jvs13551.zip  (Device)
mie.zip       (Device)
naomi.zip     (Bios)

MAME stuck on 99% usually means missing file or unsupported rom

It still telling me

added the files you said and running it though flycast am I missing something

I have Naomi.zip’ BIOS in the retroarch/system/dc/ has this

dcnaodev.bios epr-21576.ic27 epr-21576a.ic27 epr-21576b.ic27 epr-21576c.ic27 epr-21576d.ic27 epr-21576e.ic27 epr-21576g.ic27 epr-21576h.ic27 epr-21577a.ic27 epr-21577d.ic27 epr-21577e.ic27 epr-21577g.ic27 epr-21577h.ic27 epr-21578a.ic27 epr-21578d.ic27 epr-21578e.ic27 epr-21578g.ic27 epr-21578h.ic27 epr-21579.ic27 epr-21579d.ic27 main_eeprom.bin x76f100_eeprom.bin

jvs13551.zip just downloaded has this

315-6215.bin sp5001-b.bin sp5001.bin sp5002-a.bin

and the mie has this

315-6146.bin and thanks for telling me about the mame this

I think you have a very old naomi.zip BIOS. [NOTE that BIOS and rom have to match version. Newest is 0.219]

Those are the files of a more recent one [0.201 - today] (the jvs and mie are not needed with flycast):

And I check Ausfache rom in it is this

ausfache-key.bin
ic8.bin
ic9.bin

And the Rom file all together is this

315-6146.bin
jvs13551
jvs13551.zip
mie.zip
naomi
naomi.zip
ausfache-key.bin
ic8.bin
ic9.bin

I’m starting up the rom from the key bin since it the only thing that starts the rom

Everything is up to date according to the advice you said and I triple check to see if the game Compatible

https://github.com/libretro/flycast/issues/136 https://github.com/libretro/flycast/blob/master/core/hw/naomi/naomi_roms.h

Interestingly enough looking at the later I notice the Rom set saying this

// Naomi M4 Roms
    // Akatsuki Blitzkampf Ausf. Achse (Japan)
    {
        "ausfache",
        NULL,
        0x10000000,
        0x5504,
        "naomi",
        M4,
        REGION_JAPAN,
        ROT0,
        {
            { "ic8.bin", 0x0000000, 0x4000000, 0x00000000 },
            { "ic9.bin", 0x4000000, 0x4000000, 0x00000000 },
            // IC10 and IC11 Populated, Empty
            { "317-05130-jpn.ic3", 0, 0x800, 0x00000000, Key },
            { NULL, 0, 0, 0x00000000 },
        }

Do you think the 317-5130-jpn.ic3 is what I am missing by any chance

  1. Your roms have to be in the *.zip file and not lying around :slight_smile:
  2. Yes, you need this in your ausfache.zip :
317-05130-jpn.ic3
ic8.bin
ic9.bin
  1. The checksum of the roms have to match. Please refer to this site for more info: http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=ausfache&search_id=1
  • [0.157: Added 317-05130-jpn.ic3 PIC dump.]
  1. Start your game by loading the ausfache.zip, NOT the *.bin!

Obviously, if you are missing parts of the romset, it won’t work.

@ImnoTapLumber having the right checksum isn’t mandatory for flycast atm (having the wrong checksum might lead to unexpected issues though), but it might change over time.

I said this because people tend to simply rename ausfache-key.bin to 317-5130-jpn.ic3 and this obviously doesn’t work :wink:
