Problem with saved games and overlays

Whenever I save my game and load it without exiting Reroarch, it will work everytime. But if i exit retroarch, my saved game disappears. So i basically have to start a new game everytime i exit the program. This happens with every emulator.

Also, how do i edit overlays? The ones on on here you have to push the buttons in exactly the right places or it won’t register, which is a pain on smaller phone and people with big fingers. I tried increasing the size but the overlay starts to go off screen after a bit.

Help?

For the first question, RetroArch writes saves to files when it exits cleanly. If it’s not writing your saves, it’s either not exiting cleanly or it doesn’t have write permissions on the directory (most likely the first one). One way of ensuring that you exit cleanly is by using the ‘quit retroarch’ option from the RGUI menu.

The overlays have been an ongoing issue and what works well on one phone/tablet/whatever doesn’t seem to always work well on others, unfortunately. You can view the documentation on creating/modifying overlays here:

People seem to have good luck with the ‘box-ps-with-diagonals’ overlay, so I recommend trying it if you haven’t already.
