PSX Cores Issues?

Hello guys, I have a couple of problems with the PSX cores. I am currently testing Retroarch on my laptop with Win 7 64 bits. 4 gb RAM, Dual Core Processor and AMD mobility 4200 hd. I need to know what are your experiences with these cores are and if i am doing anything wrong. I have the correct bios files checked. Ok here i go:

Bettle / Mednafen: for me it is not worthwhile since the rendering is only software and gives a very slow performance.

Bettle / Mednafen HW: this is something interesting. it improves the performance a bit but only if I change my Video Driver to D3D and menu to RGUI since I understand that XMB is OPENGL exclusively. The performance varies by games. Castlevania SOTN performs with no issues, MGS also. GT1 not so much. Someone else is having the same issues?? I’m interested in this core since it’s one thats constantly updated. But the opengl and xmb issues keep me from using it.

PSX Rearmed; it works for me It’s the one that gives me the best performance of the three. now its compatibility with the games is limited, My games are in a combination of CUE / BIN and PBP so far none of the multi-disc games load.

Does anyone else have the same results as me? Do you have any recommendations that i can try? Little help here.

Thank you

PCSX-ReARMed is only intended for ARM devices. It has a lot of issues on x86/64.

I’m very surprised that Beetle-PSX-HW will even load for you with D3D. It’s a GL renderer, so it may be falling back to software rendering.

Oh sorry maybe i didnt explain myself very well, Actually it loads under GL but i have to change my video driver to d3d and menu to RGUI to see what im doing first before i load a game, if im on XMB it just goes to black screen.

Ok, so, are you saying the XMB is always black for you regardless of core? or that it’s turning black when you load a game?

when you are using d3d driver, you are actually running software driver even if running psx_hw. running psx_hw requires decent 3d card and your system just doesnt have that.

Ok. Got it. Thats a no go for me then.

Just with the PSX HW. In order to show something on screen when it loads i have to change the driver to D3D and RGUI in order to load the content from the menu, as i understand the XMB is a GL exclusive menu so far…

Yeah, I think what you’re describing is that the core requires some GL features that your GPU can’t provide, so it does the black screen thing. If you change your driver to D3D, it’s falling back to software, so you get your screen back, but your performance won’t be great if you do any upscaling.

Well i guess im stuck with what i have. Thanks for the help.
