Hi guys could you please tell me if the games Cannon Spike and Elemental Gimmick Gear work on the retroarch reicast core? In the normal reicast those games had serious issues and were unplayable (cannon spike missing graphics and graphics bug and corrupted ingame text in elemental). Pretty excited to play those awesome underrated games (Cannon spike has Megaman as a playable character!).
tested on windows 7 sadly those games have the same bugs as reicast for android, should I report this to the github? hope you guys can fix them when porting the retroarch core to android, cheers.
Bugs:

You can make an issue on the reicast-libretro repo, sure. I wouldn’t hold your breath on them getting fixed any time soon, though.
Regarding the first screenshot (Cannon Spike) -
If you look at the video you can see that the game uses a heavy amount of fogging, which is completely stubbed out right now in the GL renderer. It’s likely that the graphical bugs you are seeing there (i.e. the purple void) would be obscured by the fog normally.
I’ll be taking a look into integrating fogging. I have also found it missing for instance in a fair few other games.

Thanks for the response you are right but i don’t think fog is the sole issue, just tried playing another level without fog and there is all kinds of graphical bugs (like dissapearing enemies and graphics) :
btw just tried cannon spike on nulldc emulator (only .gdi works) and it works great:
hope someday been able to play that game on android.

When they ported Nulldc to make it usable on more than just Windows (and called it Reicast in the process), they kinda half assed the D3D9 to GL conversion.
A lot of graphics features are simply stubbed out and were never implemented. The reason was that it would be too slow on mobile.
I’ll try to get most of these features reinstated for the desktop. Right now it’s purposefully gimped for mobile/speed reasons but we don’t really have to care about that on PC.

Thats great, looking forward to it. Do you think those missing features are related to the corrupted text in the game elemental gimmick gear too?
If you guys are going to do further work on reicast, can I throw in a request of my own?
Please, please, please, please fix Wacky Races. Pretty please. It’s my most favorite racing game that’s not Nintendo-related, and I’d really like to see it playable on an emulator other than ancient Demul builds.

When Reicast was first released in 2013, the emulation outlook for mobile wasn’t very good. None of the devices at the time could really handle much of anything well.
Could we see those features implement for the Nvidia shield and other similar devices, that mare much more capable emulation-wise?
Is Cannon Spike still unplayable in the reicast windows core? I don’t have access to a pc right now, could anyone tell me?

EDIT: it does work on redream, but on my rig it’s slow as hell
