RetroArch iOS release (v1.0.0.1)

where is the RetroArch memory card data on ios? i just wanna to play my saves from ePSXe… :frowning:

Awesome emulator. I would have gladly paid for this.

Anyway is there a way to switch from disc 1 to disc 2 in MGS. I tried the disc option in the RGUI menu many times trying different things but couldn’t get it to work. Sometimes after saying insert disc 2 it would act like its loading and go to a blank screen and then freeze there.

Other times it will just say stuck at the insert disc 2 screen. :frowning:

I have told Zodttd that the current deb is broken and I have sent him a new link -

Yeah, but that is kinda the point - we don’t want the emulation scene to devolve into this - ie. ‘pay for emus’. The emu scene up to this point has always been for free and we intend to keep it that way no matter what author starts getting grand ideas about ‘making a business’ out of what basically amounts to running copyrighted machines’ games. They know they are skating on thin ice with this stuff when it comes to selling this stuff - and lets just say I won’t be crying any tears when Nintendo/Sony/Sega/MS start throwing hissyfits about this stuff and lawsuits get served.

Nintendo DS emulation especially is risky stuff and I see Nintendo easily blowing up over anyone trying to sell an emu - remember what happened with UltraHLE, and that thing was for free as well. Something similar could always happen - and the best way to safeguard yourself from that is to not be a scumbag and keep it free so they have less of a leg to stand on.

hi,

if i want to change the system keys my changes are not saved. everytime i restart retroarch (v0.9.9.2) all system keys (global core config) are reset to default. i only can chance player keys.

please try yourself and use the option “clear keyboard” for the reset key. everytime you restart the key chances to h-key back.

where are the key-config file saved ? maybe i can manually edit them ?

best regards

andi

+1 on the location of the key config files:)

I can confirm the issue you are having, it will be fixed in the next release. The lowdown is that the options to clear key bindings are broken.

The global config file for the cydia version would be /var/mobile/Documents/.RetroArch/retroarch.cfg. Keep in mind that the .RetroArch folder is considered hidden and may not show up by default during browsing.

@iOstrich All the save files are currently stored in /var/mobile/Documents/.RetroArch.

As a general note, when mucking about with files you plan to use with RetroArch, please make sure that the user ‘mobile’ ends up with full permissions. If using scp or sftp make sure to log in as mobile and not root.

Looking good on ios 7 new ui settings (no changes needed to current code)

Hi, on my ipad 3 (6.1.2 J/B) fba core doesn’t load CPS1/CPS2/NeoGeo/PGM games. It runs CPS3 games fine though … Is there a problem with the fba core ?

The roms i have work fine with iFBA and on my desktop version too.

Any insights ?

This is often a combination of ROM and BIOS issues. If the ROMs work with iFBA, they are most likely outdated relative to the bleeding-edge FBA source we use.

For instance, Street Fighter 2 - The World Warrior (CPS1). I can run it with mame2003 core but not with fba core (retroarch crashes). I have a 0.2.97.28 rom, is there a newer version ?

Anywhere I can find a log that could provide more info ?

thanx for the quick reply. but why do you hide the config folder. this makes absolutly no sense!? it doesn’t show up under ifile nor ssh. how can i edit it ?

Both cydia repo downloads confirmed working!

@kunzi Awesome :smiley:

Thanks for your help/info with that. It turns out that some of the shaders’ full path names were too long. The entire thing needs to be <100 characters, so I had to shorten some things to make them all fit. Hopefully, with that sorted out, future updates should proceed more smoothly.

Cool. Glad I could help. I have seen the same problem while setting up office share networks. Silly, but oh well:)

Anyone has any ideas ? It doesnt look like its the roms, the bios or the permissions. Is there a logfile generated on the device I could examine, and if yes what’s its location ? Thanks.

Any idea when the n64 core will be ready? Really excited!

Hi Squarepusher,

Just one questions:

Are there plans to support dynamic overlays or like more complex overlays? Something like MAME4iOS or iFBA?

These may seam only like details but they improve a lot the gameplay by giving more feedback on the screen. And of course it looks amazingly cool

What do you mean by dynamic overlays?

Animated stuff we’re most likely not going to do because it is too much of a resource hog and would actualy slow down input responsiveness rather than make it better.

Really… that is too bad… iFBA use a “animated” overlay and it has the same response as Retroarch in my iphone 4s. Is the only reason that i still use that emulator.

I mean dynamic because it reacts to the screen input. Most of the time you have to pretend that there is a actual dpad on screen. But with more complex overlays (Animated) you could actually “use” a virtual dpad.
