RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

Doom core also does that with my CC as well.Analog sticks stick after a while. I don’t mind in the slightest though, i play with d-pad and L/R buttons or with wiimote horizontally. Prboom core on Wii Plays great and smooth, looks sharp, and sounds great (supports music).

Looks like the official build is back up on the downloads page, hopefully a few issues addressed. Time to download

Version 1.0.0.1 fixes the FBA Core and does it involve with how the per-core setting is stored (the config files)?

Not sure until we’d see a changelog. I see a video on Youtube that shows KoF 2001 almost loads. Maybe the Neo core has been trimmed down a bit? Might explain Sengoku 3 loading now. Also, I see on Youtube that Unibios 3.0 works too, what’s the difference between that and 2.3 and where do we put the bios file? I can’t seem to get it to work.

Just an FYI for you guys:

In case you didn’t notice, you have your own forum now, so go nuts

No need to keep everything in one super-long thread, particularly things like tutorials and config-sharing.

Doesn’t stick over here using dual analog sticks. Do u have access to another classic controller to make sure yours isn’t malfunctioning?[/quote]

I allready tried another CC controller ( have 4 of’ 'em ), otherwise I should’nt have posted. Same problem. It’s not a big problem for me, as I am fine using the d-pad, but I though it was worth mentioning.

I could be that the cfg file that doom uses collides with the one RA provides? I did change some of the graphic option from the Doom Gui.

I’ll try later this morning, trying a fresh install.

FYI I only use original Nintendo hardware. I also tried the original cc controller ( the ones with analog shoulder buttons )

Edit: Seems RA 1.0.0.1 is up again!

First thing I noticed was there a core specific info files attached in the core folder. Just a little question: What is the VBAm for? I could find a core with the same name.

As always, thank you for the hard , hard work going into RA.

Happy days!

EDIT: Did a fresh install of Doom and RA. The Dual anolog setting still has me guessing. As of now when I enable it, right stick up/down/left/right, is strafing. Left stick makes the player go in circles getting out of control.

For the people that got this to work, could you please post some pointers about my problem?

Whilst I hate to be the one to tell this:

The RA NeoGeo core does not have the unibios option anymore. On the other hand, the FBA core does have this option…

Are things somewhat mixed up?

Question:

What is the use of this UNIBIOS? I don’t get the idea…

It allows you to implement cheats in Neo Geo games, like infinite health bar, ammunition etc. Useful for SNK Boss Syndrome!

Precisely, so if you wanted to use that it’s not available anymore in the 1.0.0.1 neogeo core update.

I think there’s been some kind of mix up. The FBA core HAS the option for Unibios, maybe I am wrong but, I think that option belongs to the NEOGEO core.

Yeah, it is specific to the Neo core only. I haven’t tried the official 1.0.0.1 build yet so I am not sure if it is in the wrong place.

Hielkenator - are the control issues still happening for you with v1.0.0.1 after Jacobeian’s fix?

I tried version 1.0.0.1 this morning and everything seems to be perfect, except for one little thing: I can’t figure out how to remap buttons. I tried my wiimote sideways for Final Fight which has only two buttons, but I can’t remap, for example, the jump action for button 2. If someone could help me I’d be so grateful. I didn’t have this problem with 0.9.9 version.

Edit: I tried with my classic controller and it allows me to remap so I guess it is a little issue that needs to be fixed.

I also noticed that now Retroarch recognizes automatically what controller is plugged. This is quite an interesting feature because it allows me to have different configurations depending of the game. Finally I can have a configuration for CPS1 “two button” games on my wiimote and also a CPS1 “six button” games config for my Classic controller. Well done!

The core configs work now, but it seems not everything gets saved, Path Options> Savestate Directory and the hardcoded resolutions don’t save. Wiimote input cannot be remapped.

i think i found a couple of bugs with Neo Geo core…

if you load a rom in 480i res then go back to the GUI and select another res the video is garbled

also i ran a rom and then went back to the GUI and selected another one it says it was loading or whatever then the current rom keep on running instead of the newly selected one booting.

Another report after continuous usage:

Neo Geo core: best version so far is v.1.0.0 Why? It allows for multiple game loads consecutively, it also keeps saved config about resolution and folder. Version 1.0.1. glitches screen if one exits to the menu and tinkers with resolutions while a game plays and hangs if a second game is loaded.

TyrQuake core: best version so far is v.0.9.9 Why? It may not allow dual analog but it is butter smooth 60fps.

prBoom Core, SNES Next core, Genesis Plus GX core, Gambatte, Nestopia, CPS2, CPS1 core, VBA Next, Mednafen NGP, Mednafen WS, Mednafen PCE Fast cores: best versions are the latest ones (1.0.1.)

FBA core is faster in 0.9.9 on Wii if you compare the same games to 1.0.1, so personally, i’ll stick to the old version for this core.

All in all FANTASTIC job guys, you really overdid yourselves!!

One last thing… As said again, would a different GLOBAL RA button config for sideways wiimote be possible? Currently it is mapped as:wiimote 1 = RA A wiimote 2 = RA B wiimote B = RA X and wiimote A = RA Y Wiimote B should be set as RA Y button since in every single core, it is used far more than RA X button (which should be assigned to wiimote A).

P.S. For all RA Wii users: The only cores that require a RA restart after a single game load are CPS1 core, prBoom core and TyrQuake core. FBA core is mostly ok besides some games like Tumblepop. It is advised to do a manual restart in this core as well, just to be safe (it only takes 3 seconds, literally)

Hopefully the optimum builds of these cores will be included in the next point release. I will hold onto previous versions until those issues are resolved.

I’ve been troubleshooting for hours and have read as many forums on the subject as I can find, but I haven’t found an answer as to why I can’t load wad files (official or custom) into the PrBoom core of RetroArch without getting a code dump. Does anyone have an idea?

Maybe try to look elsewhere? If not even the vanilla Doom wads (Doom, Doom 2, Plutonia) are not playing, this means you have bad wads.

This is a pic of my Doom & Quake folder for RA. (Ignore the PAK0.PAK & PAK1.PAK files, those are for Quake) All other files are Doom wads that play perfect with RA’s prboom core on Wii, as well as the optional music files.

I played around with this for about 20 mins just now. I think the button sticking might have happened once right pressing right in my rom folder, but I’m doubting myself a bit now. I’m not ready to give my verdict on the fixes yet, but I’d like to hear what others are experiencing.
