Skip Mednafen Saturn Date/Time Prompts

Hi Guys,

Per Awakened, it’s possible to skip the Date/Time prompt of 99% of games while using the Mednafen Saturn core. The trick is to first load the game in Mednafen native, then copy the auto-generated files from Mednafen/SAV to your directory with the game images.

In an effort to give back to the community, I’ve created a full set to match the Official HyperSpin Sega Saturn database. Simply download the link below and then merge the folders within with your own game folders.

If you’re using a different naming convention, you’ll need to rename them.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing. I have added lots of Japanese playable titles that weren’t added to the official database yet, they sum 488 together with the official database, if you have interest, let me know.

I don’t understand, once you boot a game one time it doesn’t ask you again.

At least, that’s been my experience.

Now, the Reicast core for Dreamcast… that’s another story

Even if that’s the case, this is a shortcut to having to boot every single game once… If it’s not of interest to you, you can disregard, no?

It didn’t really feel like something that ‘needed’ a shortcut, so I wanted to make sure I understood what was going on here.

If you feel like it saves ‘that’ much time… power to ya. I’m not here to knock it.

Just seemed simple enough to me to hit “exit” once on the date screen the first time I boot it, and never again. So I couldn’t understand the need for a ‘shortcut’.

Yeah it doesn’t save that much time, and I agree that Dreamcast (Reicast) still prompts every time you start the game. Anyway, it’s nice he shared his files.

You’re still seeing the prompt when using these??

If by “you” you mean me, no, actually I don’t mind the prompts, it happens one time only. I was just saying that it was kind that you shared the save files here.

I was asking you if you’re still seeing the prompt when using the files I shared? They’re suppose to fix that

I had a lot of files already created as I opened the games, I then got yours and these won’t prompt now, there are 100+ titles I have included in my database, since there are tons of Japanese playable titles that weren’t included in the official database, those I’ll create as I open then.

It’s not big deal though, but sharing these can at least save a little time.

Yeah I wasn’t trying to come down on the sharing, it just was odd to me.

9/10 if something seems strange to me it’s cause I don’t understand something so that’s where I was coming from hahaha.
