Stick input from Xbox one controller with FB Alpha 2012 NeoGeo core

So I notice that NeoGeo has a “D-pad” that moves in eight directions and thought that would be easy to setup with my Xbox One controllers.

Using the built in RetroArch core FB Alpha 2012 NeoGeo.

That was more tricky than expected due to that there is no option in the Quick menu - controlls to setup the analog stick directions.

It only allows me to setup the Xbox One D-pad and of course I can choose to enable the left analog stick also but still it only moves in four directions instead of eight. Missing out on shooting for example diagonally.

Anybody with any tips and pointers on how to fix that issue would be amazing!

Nobody had this problem?

Have you tried the ‘analog to digital type’ option in settings > input? If you choose the left analog stick there, it will make that stick send dpad events.

I will give it a try and come back with results. Up on till now I’ve configured under quick menu - controlls only. My Xbox One controller but it only allowed me to set up, down, left and right. Not all the eight angles of the left stick.

I did however enable the left stick in that menu without any better results. Tested mostly with Metal Slug.

What I have been testing seems not to be the same though so I will check out your tip and grt back here with results.

I did do a check here and I had already enabled the left analog stick. It’s working to use the left analog stick but only in four directions, not eight to shoot diagonally.

For some reason it’s working with the game Shock Troopers the eight way aiming. But not for Metal Slug. I was sure that also Metal Slug had eight way aiming when shooting…

oh, depends on the gun. The basic gun is 4 directions, the H gun is 8-way.

Not getting it to work eight ways also with the H gun. At least you can’t aim that way all the time. I got a few shots of with the H gun diagonal just swiping fast from left to up on the analog stick.
