Umihara Kawase crashing on nSide balanced

Hi everyone.

When I try to load Umihara Kawase on nSide balanced I get a black screen and then it immediately crashes on my end, I’ve tested several other games on nSide balanced and all seem to work without any issues, even special chip games, I’ve also tested the game on higan accuracy and it works fine which makes me think it’s an issue with nSide, no clue what it could be though, I generated a log but I can’t make heads or tails:

Any help is appreciated.

This looks wrong (from the end of the generated manifest):

oord; attDªÙB[

Does higan do the same? I’m guessing that nSide is having trouble generating the correct manifest.

Doesn’t seem to, here’s the log for higan accuracy:

ok, yeah, probably a bad manifest generated. If you have the time/inclination, you could test standalone nSide and see if it does the same thing.

Ok so I tested with nSide v009r16 standalone and it works just fine, I also tested on RetroArch with the core that comes with the standalone (higan_sfc_balanced_libretro.dll) and that works too, I’m assuming something broke between that release and the current release from the online updater. The core that works is called “higan (Super Famicom Balanced) 106” and the core that doesn’t work is called “higan (Super Famicom Balanced) 106.19”, although since the git page was removed I’m not sure if it’s possible to test any other version between these.

hmm, ok, that’s good news. Our fork probably was just created when there was a problem. We should look into switching back to hex_usr’s new repo now that he’s back in action.
