Way to delay the emulation startup?

On my old laptops, even though RetroArch is able to give me a rock solid 60fps with solid audio from start to finish (once I’ve sorted out my configs), one thing that does happen reliably is that when the emulation initially starts out, it is very rough. For about a solid second, it chugs and stutters the audio as it seemingly gets its bearings. It’s smooth sailing from that point on but I still would love a way to keep that rough beginning from occurring. On emulators of primitive systems like the Atari 2600, it’s outstandingly harsh. Better, I think, to let the emulator sort out whatever it needs to do before it starts sending frames.

pretty sure that’s something on your system, most likely related to power settings.
