What about CEMU

HI! I wanted to ask if there are any plans about porting CEMU (Wii U emulator) to libretro

We can’t do it, since it’s not open source. If the Cemu team wanted to make a libretro core, we would welcome it, of course.

Ops, I didn’t know their code wasn’t open source, sorry D:

Reviving this thread, since Cemu has been made open-source recently.

We don’t have any plans for it currently, but now that it’s open source, it’s actually a reasonable possibility. I haven’t personally even looked at the codebase to see if the emulation part is easily separated from the interface/UI part, which is another common sticking point, or if it plays nicely with our frame-based pacing (we can work around this but it’s a significant complication).

I would love Wii U Support and an option to display the gamepad on a separate monitor.

Please, let us know about any news of Cemu core!

Ain’t cemu open source now? I can smell that retro arch is gonna have their core sooner or later but for now its just using the standalone cemu emulator.

Being open source is a good first step, but creating a working core is an entirely different issue. After all, code availability and cross compatibility are different concepts.

There are a lot of emulators that are open source and haven’t been ported in RA.

Supermodel is the most well known for older RA users because it was promised a long time ago and then it vanished.

There are also others like Ares and it’s N64 core, which is the most accurate N64 emulator. There’s even a bizhawk port for it but not for RA.

Being open source is only a small part of the puzzle it seems. It doesn’t mean you will see it in RA.

The main requirement for any porting is finding someone who is interested, or paying someone who isn’t.
