Windows-based Lakka MAME Playlist Generator with MAME 2003 playlist file attached
This is amazing and is also what I would like to have on my C1+.

Does your C1+ have multiple OS? Mine only has Lakka and i’m wondering if I need to add Linux to it too.
I’m using the PC build of Lakka, but the answer is the same: you do not need another Linux system in order to deploy MAME to your Lakka device. My suggestion would be to skip trying to generate your own playlist or ROM set when you are getting started.

In other words, I suggest downloading the MAME 2003 playlist from my post on Page 1 and copying it onto your C1+ rather than generating your own playlist with the script. Same with your ROMS: I suggest you find the MAME 2003 Reference Set online (easy to do) and start with a complete set of those. If you can get things working at that level then you can start to customize.

MAME thumbnail update! Soon I plan to create a new thread in light of this change, but until then:

The RetroArch thumbnail downloader now includes a MAME thumbnail pack that is compatible with this playlist generator. Anyone using this tool – or the pre-generated MAME 2003 playlist – can now simply download thumbnails from within the Lakka interface as with thumbnails for other emulator cores.

I’m currently testing a major rewrite of this AutoHotKey MAME playlist generator tool. It can do more – including automatically scraping and downloading thumbnail images for items in a MAME playlist – and now features an interactive GUI.

I’ll no longer be updating this thread as a consequence.

If anyone is interested in working with the new script, it should be compatible with recent nightly releases of RetroArch and Lakka. Because it can be used in Windows and OS X now in addition to Lakka/Linux, there are some more configuration choices but I hope the labeling will be enough to make it clear how to use the tool. I am running Builddate Dec212016 on a PC. I have tried to access and edit the playlist manually using notepad via SMB connection, but the roms are not showing up.

code added: /storage/roms/MAME/galagao.zip Galaga /tmp/cores/fbalpha_libretro.so Arcade (FB Alpha) DETECT FB Alpha - Arcade Games.lpl

I can run the rom manually using the load content and the same FB Alpha core.
