Windows exe capture - libretro core for RetroArch

WINDOWS EXE CAPTURE - experimental libretro core for RetroArch Version 1.2.1-wgc

WHAT IT IS

An experimental RetroArch core that launches a Windows program (.exe), captures its window and shows it inside RetroArch, so you can apply RetroArch shaders (CRT, scanlines, etc.) to it, in a way similar to ShaderGlass.

Video is captured with Windows Graphics Capture (WGC). If WGC fails to start, the core automatically falls back to PrintWindow.

Audio does not go through RetroArch: the game’s sound comes out directly from the game itself (the core only sends silence to RetroArch). Save states are not supported.

See readme.txt in 7z file for usage e troubleshooting

Nice.

Got it working and with smooth frame pacing too (at least as far as AM2R is concerned -haven’t tested with anything else yet).

First, I switched to glcore. With Vulkan I’m unable to get smooth frame pacing with this core for some reason.

Second, disable vsync in RetroArch but enable it in the game/application itself (as always, with RA you can save core-specific .cfg settings so you don’t have to manually change them depending on the core every time).

So for this core, what worked for me:

  • glcore video driver
  • disable vsync in RA / enable it for the game application
  • run the exe/application in a window.
