Yabause Save issue

Has the Yabause core ever had working in-game saving (not save states)? It looks like something preventing saving was fixed in 2014 (according to the GIT closed issues page) but I haven’t been able to save the game I’ve been playing (though states work).

Full details: -Retroarch: RA 1.3.4 on iPhone 6s (jailed), iOS 9.3 -Core: Yabause 0.9.14 -Game: Machi (Disk 1) Expected behavior: Game should auto save after every chapter (verified to work in SSF on PC) but no data is saved and all data is reset when you close the emulator. You can test this by starting the game, pushing enter to begin a new game, and then clicking the A button until you get the first bad ending and return to the character select screen. Normally, if you reset at this point you should be able to see 1 completion listed on the save (book) select screen, but it will show a 0.

Is anyone else having this issue (or saving issues in general) with Yabause on iOS or any of the other RA ports? If so I’ll open an issue on git.

I’ve only tested Panzer Dragoon Saga’s saving, but that was still loading my save last time I tested it on Windows. I haven’t tested saving in awhile though. Is a .srm savefile for Machi at least created in your save folder? Not sure where saves default to on IOS; might be the same place as your games.

Yeah, it looks like the srm file is created when the game first launches but the save never updates after that. Does saving work on Panzer Dragoon Saga with the latest version of the core?

I just saved in game with the latest Windows core. It updated the .srm and was able to load the updated save fine. Maybe there’s a Machi specific save issue. I don’t have that one on hand to test though.

Ah, I think I may have this figured out–looks like this is an HLE Bios problem. Just tried the real bios and auto save in Machi worked. I could have sworn I started with the Saturn bios enabled but I guess not…

Ahh, ok, I had my BIOS enabled when I tested it too. Didn’t think of that making a difference.

Good to know since some games make you skip it.

I’m having the opposite problem though. Saving works ok for me, but I can’t save-state at all. Both save & load make the emulator itself (not retroarch) pull up a “State Saved” message, but I can’t make it load.

When it ‘saves’ Retroarch gives a save error.
