[3.6][PC] Lakka Install Issue - Black Screen / Screen Goes to Sleep

Hi !

First, a big thank to the Devs that made Lakka ! (I’ve been wandering for a long time on these forums as an anonymous user, and i’ve seen how far this project has been taken, amazing!)

I’ve been using Lakka on two different PCs without any major issue since 2.3.2, but i’m now stuck on a new one.

To make it fast, I just can’t run Lakka on this new PC.

I plug the USB stick, it boots to the menu where you can run or install Lakka and whatever option I choose, I get a black screen. A few seconds later, the screen goes to sleep as if there were no video output. (Tried with screen plugged to HDMI and DisplayPort)

I’ve next tried to use the last x86-x64 nighly build, but I get the same result. (Lakka-Generic.x86_64-nightly-20220122-1ea8b45.img.gz)

You should try to boot with live textmode ssh for the boot parameters.

Then provide some log with createlog.

I fear that no answer means no solution, which would be sad because this PC would be awesome for saturn “accurate” emulation :slight_smile:

Which is fixed in kernel version 5.13.

We may try to backport the patches to the kernel we are using version 5.10.101 if it is possible.

Hi @UreK, you can meanwhile use this development version (based on LibreELEC master branch, but not updated with libretro cores for quite some time) - https://nightly.builds.lakka.tv/members/vudiq/Lakka-LE-master/Generic.x86_64/ - it uses kernel 5.15

This version works ! I can go through the install process, install Lakka and use it.

The video adapter is well recognized now :

The only thing that is weird, is that I got awful performances with beetle saturn (The only core I’ve tested now) despite runnung Lakka on a more powerful (single thread) CPU (i3-10105) than my other PC (i5-9500T).

Do you think that it can be due to the old core version and/or an (maybe) non-optimized lakka build ? (I’ve ran retroarch under Ubuntu on this PC (beetle saturn core) and got way better performance)

Maybe should I open a new thread for this question ?

HI @UreK, the image is from not yet supported version of Lakka, very early development build. I cannot guarantee when it will get updated. But any comments / issues you find - just open a new thread/topic with suitable description (e.g. Feedback to early development build) so we keep track of any issues you find and try to address them.
