Flap! Damn you, Flap! :egg:

These are really looking phenomenal guys!

I may even have to try playing bubbles, I never knew it existed until recently.

They certainly look authentic like that @Dreamstate ! Pleased we found a way to present the CPO’s that fits the overlays, they help add some drama to the whole thing - plenty more to come…

@Dreamstate I literally thought those were photos taken on location. And professionally shot photos at that…

Final Fight update with Control Panel

Totally reworked update of the Final Fight overlay once again using a gorgeous @papashine 3D render for the CP. I’ve created both standard and large screen variations, and they are both in the same directory.

absolutely amazing looks stunning on my cab!! :star_struck: love that you modified the instructions for the larger screen version too - another triumph I think!

They look awesome! @ArsInvictus doesnt it look kind of weird to you having two CPs (the one of the bezel and the real one below)?

That was my original reason for not following this format @Kondorito, but what I’ve found is that it is not distracting as much as it is basically out of your field of vision while playing, and the overall presentation matches the original artistic intent better with it.

I didn’t really like most approaches to the CPO up until the 3D rendering approach though, as I felt the perspective was off and it didn’t fit the rest of the overlay stylistically. I do like the way this works now and doesn’t feel weird to me.

Hi @Dreamstate, I’m not sure if you are using the Mega Bezel, but I’m actually going to work with @PapaShine to see if we can do something in the Mega Bezel to drive illumination of the CPO/Speaker Panel, of course this means that the overlay image would be in the shader rather than a standard Retroarch overlay.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Cool. I don’t use retroarch though. But I’m sure it’ll look amazing.

Thanks, @Thoggo! That 24" Viewlix looks like a great solution. I would probably go that route instead of the Countercade if I wasn’t already so far down the current path. Maybe for my next project…

New Neo Geo Big Red overlay format - King of Fighters '98

We’ve put together a new format for the Neo Geo library of games, this one is based heavily on the original dual layout Big Red cabinets. I’ll be converting the full set of Neo Geo games into this format in the coming days.

This would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the community, with thanks to Mr. Retrolust for his Dual Layout Neo Geo collection, which I’ll be leveraging for the creation of the marquees (though with a different look for the overall design). And of course @PapaShine for the amazing 3D CPO render and the very realistic plastic bezel border (which will get a LOT of use going forward).

I’m a huge Neo Geo fan and always thought if I could have actual cabs in my house, a Big Red would be one of them. This feels really close and it’s great to be able to have all the art and instruction strips for all the games (thanks to the Neo Geo Soft site).

Here’s the first in the set, King of Fighters '98:

If anything appears off here, let me know, I’ll be investing a lot of my time in the setup for all these games, and hope to only have to do it once!

Updated Caveman Ninja Overlay with CPO

I happened a fairly good upscaled copy of this uploaded to the ukvac.com forums by Aaron6918. It’s very hard to find this CPO so I was happy to see it was clear enough to be used as a 3D render. @Papashine gave it his full treatment and I’ve incorporated it into the overlays:

These look great. Finally found time to get out to garage last night, had a blast playing Bubbles in new papashine/Ars configuration. Just stunning.

Sky Soldiers 4K Vertical Overlay

I was lucky enough to find a much more complete original marquee for sale online and picked it up for this overlay. It had fairly significant damage in some areas and both me and @PapaShine worked on the restoration. I’ve uploaded the full resolution marquee to MameWorld.

For the CPO, Nightvoice from MameWorld was kind enough to provide me with his original vector source file, which I modified to include some portions that were in the original art and also updated it with some higher resolution logo sources.

The beautiful bezel here was restored (or recreated in vector?) by RaspBear, also from MameWorld.

Once again @papashine rendered the 3D panel and I did the lighting effects for the marquee and assembled this thing.

It takes a village to make a baby like this!

Hope you enjoy!

Awesome result @ArsInvictus :trophy: (and all others involved In the various pieces along the way), really nice presentation of all that work! Now to play the game for the first time  held off, as usual, to enjoy it as it was meant to be seen :joystick:

I did the same thing, and finally played it last night. I was happy to find it was quite an enjoyable classic shooter!

Just wanted to share a full render of @PapaShine’s 3D work on this one, as often much of the actual model is cut off in the overlays due to space issues. There’s a lot of attention to detail that goes into these things and hope you guys will appreciate the exceptional effort that’s involved!

Someday maybe I’ll create a version of these things for a portrait ultrawide monitor just so we can display the entire cab

@PapaShine & @ArsInvictus

I have to say these control panels are really amazing, and you’ve found a way to add the 3D control panel without making it distracting.

Really wicked, It feels like just the right balance of clean design and realistic texture
