Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (Capcom - 1996)

This game gets far more play time in my household than any other on the cabinet, so it’s about time it gets the full control panel treatment. I recreated the original control panel stickers in vector format for this one. The coin door version is included in the packaging.

BurgerTime (Data East – 1982)

MAME version

RetroArch version

You’ve been craving it… now, finally, filling in a Whopper of a gap in our 80s arcade coverage… it’s time… for BurgerTime. :hamburger: :man_cook: :hotdog:

Thanks to classicgaming.cc for the artwork for this one, as they have high-quality, fully vectorized artwork for most of the cabinet (though not the marquee, oddly enough). The MAME version has an additional larger screen size (not a lot larger, but it may make a difference depending on your monitor).

You guys are knocking it out of the park with these awesome overlays for Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Q*bert, and BurgerTime.

I was hoping someone was working on Q*bert and BurgerTime and they both popped up today. Sweet.

This is so awesome! I never realized this was a data east game

Whenever I see Burgertime I think of Burger Boss from Bobs Burgers

Just want everyone to know, you can always request anything, we might bump it up our Todo list if we can.

I’m always curious to know what people like. tenor

A great selection of beautifully crafted vertical overlays have been created and preserved by the excellent collaboration in this forum. A huge thanks to everyone for all the time and effort put into replicating the arcade experience. Trying to play a game without the accompanying marquee, bezel, and control panel artwork feels like an incomplete experience now. :grinning:

I’m curious if any of these are in the queue:

  1. Berzerk
  2. Black Tiger
  3. Centipede
  4. Contra
  5. Double Dragon
  6. Elevator Action
  7. Frogger
  8. Ghosts 'n Goblins
  9. Jungle King
  10. Karate Champ
  11. Kung-Fu Master
  12. Missile Command
  13. Mr. Do!
  14. Punch-Out!!
  15. Rastan
  16. Rygar
  17. Shinobi
  18. Street Fighter
  19. Street Fighter II
  20. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  21. Time Soldiers
  22. Turtles In Time
  23. Wrestlefest
  24. Xevious
  25. Zaxxon

Thanks @NeoKarnage! I’m glad you feel the same way we do about this, without the artwork, it’s just not the same!

All of those are in the queue, some, like Rastan, I’ve done coin door versions, but I do have a CPO for that title and just need to get to it. I’ve also recently picked up the CPO for Turtles in Time and need to scan and stitch it together. @Thoggo is already working on Contra now

All these (and more) will be coming your way in the coming weeks/months, so just hang tight!

We’re glad you enjoying them @NeoKarnage! To follow up what @ArsInvictus said, several of those on your list exist but may not have CPO art (such as Centipede, Ghosts n’ Goblins, Double Dragon, Elevator Action), if you scroll way back in this thread. @walter.farmacia has a version of TMNT earlier in this thread, I’m not sure if there’s a lay file yet. We have the Zaccaria version of Frogger, though not the better-known US version yet. Some others are in progress now, including Contra, Super Contra and Zaxxon. And there are several on your list we haven’t touched yet (that I know of), including Jungle King, Xevious and Punch-Out!!. Stay tuned, that’s a great list and I expect we will get to all of those before too long!

FROGGER (sega 1981)

MAME - Frogger

lay file has both US and zaccaria version to choose from.

no Retroarch files yet.

And reminder no cab to test at the moment, but if something is wrong I am glad to fix it, PM me.

Very cool. I tested out both Zaxxon and Frogger and they work great as far as I can tell. Two off the list already. You guys work quick. :grinning:

The hits keep coming! I’ve got another one from your list, @NeoKarnage (plus its sequel).

Contra (Konami – 1987)

MAME version

RetroArch version

Contra is perhaps best known for its NES port, one of the first games to include the famous “Konami code,” but the arcade version was a groundbreaking game in its own right. A two-player run-and-gun game that combined exciting shooting action with multiple perspectives and platform-based levels, Contra brought an action movie sensibility to the genre – the heroes somersault when jumping, the explosions are plentiful, even the game art has gleaming photos of the Stallone-esque protagonists. If you’re more familiar with the home ports, you should definitely spend some time with the more sophisticated arcade version. The MAME version includes two screen sizes.

Super Contra (Konami – 1988)

MAME version

RetroArch version

Action heroes Bill and Lance returned a year later for another assault on the alien menace in Super Contra, with upgraded graphics and some new mechanics, including new weapons and top-down even-numbered levels rather than the quasi-3D perspective of the original. Super Contra amps up the visual style and the challenge of the original, requiring fast reflexes as the levels and the boss fights get more and more complex. The MAME and RetroArch versions both include two screen sizes (seen below).

Just tried them both out and they look fantastic. I would have added Super Contra to the list as well but I assumed it was a given. Just like Double Dragon and Double Dragon II: The Revenge. Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone not so much.

Looks great @walter.farmacia! I finally have a light gun, I’ll have to check out the light gun games you’ve posted (I have the AimTrak, I’ll be getting the Sinden gun soon and once I have them both I’ll post a video to compare the two and talk about using them with a vertical cabinet).
