Alienware Alpha R2 stuck at flower screen

So… I just wanted to verify if i’m going to be able to use this thing or not. I have an older Alienware Alpha and it works fine but the GPU is different. May be due to the fact that this is a GTX 960. I don’t know.

Here’s my verbose output.

And here’s my output for my video card

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GM206 [GeForce GTX 960] [10de:1406] (rev a1)

As a fellow Alienware Alpha owner, I can tell you that your initial hunch about it being the graphics card is correct. The GTX960 is currently not compatible. The 860M is right now though (I have two Alienware Alphas, the i3 and i7 variants). However, the GTX960 is a newer card, and I’m curious, if you’re running Windows on it (and it’s a pretty good bet you are because you said “Alpha” and not “Steam Machine” which is Linux), you can just download Retroarch directly and run that on there until the Lakka team gets the GTX960 for them to add it to the compatibility database.

Yeah. That’s exactly what I did for now. I just installed RetroArch and I’m playing that way. It also gives me the opportunity to use some other emulators not available through RetroArch like PCSX2.

I’m also thinking about installing something like Gopher360 so I can just control the whole thing with a controller. That was my original issue. I just didn’t want to have to use a keyboard and mouse.

@Zerauskire : Thank you for the log. Is it possible to get also dmesg output ? I think we just forgot to reenable nvidia firmware. Maxwell graphic cards should work.

Update : we re-enabled it.

Cool. Thanks for the update. I would test it out but I’ve never been able to successfully compile Lakka. I’m good for now though so i’ll just wait for a release.
