Analogue filters and shaders looking strange for me

I’m trying to get RetroArch to display Genesis games to look like as if they were on an old school TV.

Although it was achieved by dithering, I recalled in my childhood, they were transparent. Genesis is one of those consoles that don’t look so good in HD and looks best in what it was designed for, analogue TV.

my problem is I can’t seem to get RetroArchs’ videos and shaders to work properly

for example.

  1. Using Blargg’s video filters… there’s some CRT/RGB/Composite ones, but they end up making the video half size like this

Next I tried using different filters from the Analogue Filter Pack 2 from below, but some of them don’t work at all (like Black and White), others like the Royale invert the colors

what am i doing wrong.

Dunno why your colors are getting inverted, but the video filters won’t work on all cores because they are specifically hardcoded to S/NES cores. However, there’s a core option for GenPlusGx to enable a special version of the NTSC filter that’s designed to work with the Sega Genesis resolution.

Also, check out the NTSC shader. The 320px versions should work well with Genplusgx without causing any issues.
