Robotron (robotron.zip):
These look like fake interlaced games detected. They probably use some odd high resolution in one of their dimensions.
The solution is to use a crt shader that doesn’t try to detect interlacing. In this case, I recommend you to use crt-hyllian-sinc instead crt-nobody for these specific cases. Crt-hyllian is the big brother of crt-nobody, :P.
You just need to open the game preset and change the reference. For example, open your paperboy.slangp, comment the original reference (which is pointing to the generic uborder-bezel-reflections.slangp, that is set to call crt-nobody) and put another to call directly the base preset of your choice for that specific game:
//#reference "../../../shaders_slang/bezel/uborder/uborder-bezel-reflections.slangp"
#reference "../../../shaders_slang/bezel/uborder/base_presets/uborder-bezel-reflections/crt/crt-hyllian-sinc.slangp"
Thanks m8, i’ll update all those also what would you say is the best way to add ambi-light functionality to this setup? I’ve updated to the latest Uborder version.
I can let it configurable for you like I did for SOQUEOEU pack. Let me download you latest pack.
I’ve got the latest and it contain 50 presets. Is that it?
Yes fella the released pack is still at 50…i think im at 62 currently
Looking back on this…i don’t like it lol…screen looks flat. Damn it!! let me have another go lol! I’ve actually been going through other games in this pack that i didn’t quite like the look of aswell. I’ll include all the changed games in the 75 game release…i love giving myself work lol.
Nice work!
Regarding the playable area, remember that in the arcade:
I think the playable area would go up as you get closer, since it only seems to be blocked by the angle caused by the distance. So don’t worry too much about making an exact copy!
Ok i started from scratch, got the shape of the screen that i think is good. The only problem is that there’s a limit to the amount of middle bezel height… @Hyllian do you know of a way round this? i can make that line go up if i reduce the screen curvature which then results in the screen looking flat.
Nope, this is an extreme case I’ve never tried. Just try as many options as you can to achieve your objective.
I’ve got an Ambilight setting that i like now…so im going through each of the previous games tweaking any imperfections and seeing how everything looks
A big thanks to @Hyllian for setting that up for me.
If the koko-ambi settings you found are common to all presets, you just need to put them in the 'base_presets/uborder-koko-ambi.slangp". You don’t need to put on every game preset.
I was gonna put them in the extra params but i’ll put them there instead.
You could, but the extra.params affects vertical and horizontal games separately. They’re intended for special param for vertical or horizontal.
Phew!! just went through all the previous games from the gdrive tweaking bits and bobs…i can safely say these now look gorgeous!! And combined with the ambi…i’m over the moon
One param you shouldn’t forget that affect ambient-light too much is this:
Using a low value increase the weight of ambient-light and can give some night club effect:
I didn’t see that parameter… at the moment I have a very subtle effect that imo looks quite realistic. I’ll have a look at that tomorrow and have a mess… thanks for all your help
Had a play with that feature … dropped it a bit. So now with the chosen settings I’m getting pretty much real time lighting that doesn’t colourise too much and is of a spread that catches the majority of the cab sides… looks really good.
