Considering using Lakka in a bartop arcade unit

So…My inner 6 year old went out and got this to celebrate a milestone in my life: https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/picade.

I always wanted an arcade in my home. Even a small one. I used Retropie for the Raspberry Pi 3 inside of it because of the recommended, but then when I finished it, I got the itch to build another one. I managed to procure another monitor for really cheap ($20), and of course, with all of the hardware I’ve got lying around here, I could easily construct another one. So I’m thinking that, and of course, the PCB/IPAC comes to mind: does Lakka work with the IPAC2 modules that translate keyboard movements and keystrokes into joystick and button presses for the video games I would want to emulate on this thing?

I’m thinking, maybe use an XU4 or the Chromebox and push this thing to the limit and get all of those MAME and FBA games working.

I stopped using Ipac and went with a bliss-box all in one Controller adapter. It lets me use any of the old controllers on my arcade. I also use 2 zero second encoders for my arcade sticks. The zero second encoders are cheap and work good.

I-PACs work fine, you just have to spend some time disabling default hotkey mappings that conflict with the MAME defaults. That is, if you use the keyboard encoder mode. I don’t have any experience with the joypad mode.

I believe people have also had good luck with those “zero delay” arcade boards that are super-cheap.

Good to know about those! I was thinking about picking up a zero-delay USB encoder instead of an iPac to map out the buttons and wiring.
