I am brand new to Lakka. I would like to purchase a couple of wireless xbox 360 controllers to use with the retro system I am building. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what controllers are best and what works best? Also, how much should I pay? Do I need a wireless dongle for each of the controllers? Sorry, total noob here!
I think you can pair up to 4 pads with a single wireless dongle.
If you already have bluetooth, PS3-compatible pads are available for cheap and work just as well, esp the official Sony ones.
I dont have bluetooth on the machine that I am using.
Probably a controversial opinion for all you Bluetooth lovers, but I love my solution. I am using Sega Saturn controllers!
The controllers go through this adapter. The great thing about this setup is you can swap out the standard SS controller, the 3D controller, or even the arcade controller without having to remap inputs! Configure the 3D controller first (to get that joystick mapped) and you are good to go! And two players are supported. This gives you a variety of controller choices for different games (classic controller is best for 2D games, 3D controller perfect for N64, arcade controller is great for MAME)
Note: For P2, you need to ensure Retroarch is setup to use the same USB input that P1 uses. It actually recognizes both as one controller, but each button and axis is mapped differently so there is no issue.
The only flaw is that Dreamcast (through the Reicast emulator) will not allow you to use one USB for two players. Retroarch works perfect.
Does this set up with the Saturn controller support wireless use thru Bluetooth? If not the PS3 controller is still the best bet.
