Devs views on shaders

How many in the game industry, especially devs for the original games have discussed shaders?

Here is Hideki Kamiya complaining about the shaders on the WiiU on twitter:

His English isn’t perfect. Is he referring to some kind of smoothing shader, or bilinear? Not sure.

I think he’s talking about bilinear filtering. That’s the first I’ve seen of any actual devs discussing post-processing effects for pixel art, though I would guess Capcom, at least, is cool with them, since they include hq2x(-ish?) filters with their arcade ports (3S-Online, etc.).

Yes, certainly those porting the games allowed them as options. I am really curious what the original devs think. Do they keep around CRT tvs or play with LCDs?
