Duimon - HSM Mega Bezel Graphics and Presets - Feedback and Updates

Thanks. How about you trying it on a clean temp install so I know if the problem is with some change in RA or on my end?

@Duimon It is dead for me as well. It worked a few months ago so a recent update to the mame core must messed something up.

@Duimon I have a version of the mame core from June and that works.

OK. I tried a MAME core from 2019 and it works, so now we know.

So…

I am going to commit to doing a few console graphics for the MAME core after I finish all the other cores. Apparently they will be broken from time to time.

This is the first CD-i graphic that I have seen. (Content Directory presets work great for the MAME core!)

Hi Duimon, are you planning to release a FBNeo overlay, or at least a generic arcade cabinet ?

Yes I plan on doing a generic arcade that will allow people to add their own custom bezels. (It is rather low on the priority list.)

There are quite a few really good Arcade graphics by other artists that can easily be used.

I never thought my console themed bezels could help inspire something like this. The work being done is absolutely fantastic! You’ve taken it to the next level. :grinning:

That opened box image of the SMS brings back good memories of a childhood birthday. I actually asked for the SMS over the NES. Which may seem crazy to some of you. I’m very nostalgic for the SMS. I did end up getting an NES a few years later though. I was feeling left out.

We all stand on the shoulders of those that come before us. This would never have happened without you my friend. I am in your debt, truly.

Look at this folks.

PC Engine CD!

I really hope some people like smaller screens because the hidden details are pretty cool.

Quite a few tricky things here. I didn’t know that the Track Mode button was actually an LED window, neither was it evident that the little detail next to the repeat button was an LED, and I had to create the DiGiTAL text from scratch. Lot’s of fun!

The TurboGrafx CD is pretty much a clone of this, (Except for the CD window and the color of the plastic.) so it shouldn’t take too long to convert it.

A little proud peek under the bezel.

Turns out the NEC PC-8801 used the same drive so you may see this graphic again!

Nice!

It also looks like the pc-88 may have doubled as a toaster

It’s pretty crazy to think that was a sign of high powered graphics back then, and look at the project we’re working on now. :astonished:

I have loved watching the technology grow.

I was feeling that the TurboGrafx CD wasn’t dark enough. How do you feel about this?

I am still not perfectly happy with the contrast. I may play with it some more. I may also revisit the same on the TurboGrafx-16.

Looking at them both I am torn. I may just try some more contrast on the first. Dark stuff is hard! :grimacing:

Another try…

original.

More contrast in the CD cover.

I’m feeling I like the last one. I am also feeling I will make the same contrast change in the PC Engine CD. It adds just enough depth. (And maybe that’s enough OCD for now!)

I totally agree about the contrast, It feels like a nice improvement.

I wonder if it would look good to having a slight gradient on the flat part.

Although I think it’s great as is
