This is MY FAVORITE FRONT END! and thx mate for your incredible job sincerly thank you;)
I will probably do the PAL version and the Game Boy, just to show the LB forum that I’m serious, then return to work here on this project. I’m also excited about putting the smart object script to work for everyone and that will require at least the Game Boy graphic.
FYI the script only works in PS but I have seen mentions of Affinity macros so maybe @HyperspaceMadness and I can talk about an alternative option for the community.
Yes. The NeoGeo handhelds are next on my list, perhaps I will just complete the set.
Hello!
I’ve used some of your overlays in my Retropie/Recalbox overlays pack: https://github.com/cosmo0/retropie-overlays
Let me know if you want me to remove them.
Thanks for the great work
@cosmo0 Use them, change them, enjoy them. They and my source are free to use without credit.
I’m happy you considered them worthy of your pack. Is there anything I haven’t done yet that you would like to see sooner than later?
Cool, thanks! I credited you of course, I always do.
I had a lot of missing systems, but I just found out Recalbox has made a pack with a few of the missing ones: [Recalbox 7.x] - Overlays complets | Recalbox Forum so I’ll check them and get back to you if I’m still missing systems after that
Thanks a lot!
Ok I’ve updated the list and I’m still missing these ones: Find overlays for generic ones · Issue #9 · cosmo0/retropie-overlays (github.com)
- CoCo
- Daphne
- Dragon 32
- GX 4000
- Macintosh (no Libretro emulator so no rush)
- Oric Atmos
- MO/TO
- Ti 99
- TRS 80
If you ever do overlays for these ones, let me know
Thanks a lot!
Most of these systems require the use of MAME and it’s Software Lists. I have done two from MAME’s SL so far, and plan to do more, but not until after I am done with all the RA cores. From the list it seems only the MO/TO has an RA core. (Correct me if I am wrong.)
Hm you’re right that most of them don’t use libretro cores. I used the emulators in Retropie/Recalbox but sometimes they’re stand-alone.
The GX4000 seems to use lr-cap32 but I found an image after I asked you ( Gx4000 - Documentation (gitbook.io))
The Thomson MO/TO uses lr-theodore: Thomson MO/TO - RetroPie Docs but Recalbox has a Thomson MO8 overlay.
Sorry for the useless request
Not useless at all, if I was only doing graphics for cores that no one had ever done, then I wouldn’t have a project at all.
I started this project to give HSM’s shader graphics that measured up to it’s excellence, and made sense with it’s feature set.
I chose vector so it can scale and be future proof.
I do overlay versions because I think the rest of the community deserves love also. (And I use them myself on my Android, Pi, and ODROID stuff.)
I will move the two Libretro cores near the top of the list, (Not to the top because I am committed to the Neo Geo set right now.) and I would love to do the others as long as I can get them to run in some version of the MAME core.
Thank you very much for your input, and for helping to make my list more inclusive.
I’ve got a request @Duimon
Since you’ve already done PICO-8, I figured you might also want to do the "LowRes NX"
In celebration of the new libretro Core: https://www.libretro.com/index.php/lowres-nx-a-new-fantasy-console-core/
And unlike PICO-8, it’s completely Open Source (made in BASIC).
I really, really do! Thank you!
@Diego and everyone else!
Here’s a new WIP.
The Neo Geo AES!
I don’t think I can really call this a WIP, I’m not sure I have ever spent more time on a graphic. I am really happy with it.
I took my usual liberties, I moved the sides of the console completely off screen so I could pull in more of the center, where the details were. (It was pretty boring before I made that choice.) I also made the whole thing a bit more gray than black for a couple of reasons…
- I wanted it to match my Neo Geo CD graphic.
- I am really, really tired of working in the lower 20% of the gray scale palette.
I went at this one kind of slowly, bit by bit, trying things I have never tried before. I learned a lot of new tricks. The source for this one is crazy!
I have said since the beginning of this journey that when I finish all the cores I will go back to the beginning and redo some of my early graphics. I am really looking forward to it.
Here’s a shot of this with the hidden details.
And a shot of the Game Cube graphic.
It’s pretty plain to see that my skill has improved over the last year.
When I do start redoing some of these, I think I will create a set of repos with the old graphics and source. I would hate to disappoint anyone that prefers the less realistic graphics.
It has been an awesome year! Thank you everyone for coming along on this journey with me.
i’m back! thx my friend for your amazing sgb and OMG neo geo AES…so lovely… thanks for all!
I’m not sure it’s appropriate to post something from my LaunchBox project, but here is the PCB from my current graphic WIP… a translucent GBC cartridge.
This was crazy fun to work on, and I am very proud of the result.
Here is the final result of the GBC cartridge. If anyone is interested in the details of the template, (It has a lot of features.) I posted a bit about it on the LB forum.
No need to worry that I am forgetting about this project, next I am doing the two Neo Geo handheld graphics.
