HDMI Sound Card not even listed

Hey guys -

Linux newb here, so I might be doing something wrong (probably am). I did search the forums for the myriad of sound issue posts first, but all had different issues.

My issue is that the HDMI sound card is not even listed. Here’s the output of my aplay -l

That’s it. It’s probably a driver issue (I just installed Linux tonight, overwriting Windows 7), as I don’t know that this sound card was ever working on Linux. I just don’t have a clue how to go about resolving that.

I read in another thread that someone disabled audio devices in their BIOS, which made different sound cards show up. (Disabling analog sound made the HDMI device show up exclusively.) I checked my BIOS, and there’s nothing about sound or audio devices. That’s the only thing I found in the forum related to this, but sorry if I missed a post.

I know this is probably a more general Linux question as opposed to a Lakka question, but when I Google the issue, all I get is solutions for other distributions of Linux that recommend downloading an app with a graphical interface. Will that work? I’m accessing the system using SSH.

Is it possible to make a test with the latest nightly (32 bit or 64 bit) as we updated kernel.

try rmmod snd-hda-intel && modprobe snd-hda-intel index=-2 ? Then check the output of aplay -l and aplay -L

Just tried that (both commands together and separately) and it did not alter the results of either aplay -l or aplay -L. :frowning:

Can you give the output of dmesg ? and the output of lspci -nn | grep VGA
