Help with 8bit, 16bit core shaders

Im really sorry to bother this forum with yet another best shader thread, but I am new using retroarch and I need some help learning. I own the consoles and games (I guess for the record we all do ;), but I really do) so I’m not looking for the true retro feel but rather the best looking image possible. I am loving retroarch and have learned to apply preset shaders to the cores however I saw this old post where FlamerX posted some awesome images and briefly explained how he set his shaders. This is the forum post:

http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4133&page=2

It’s where he posts 10 images and explains how he uses reshader (which I have). Those images are exactly what I want to go for.

He also mentions later on in that page:

“The basic shader combination is in the “cgp” directory 2xbr-crt-hyllian.cgp I just tuned the parameters and changed xbr 2.8c to xbr 2.8a which is more rounded. it’s purely subjective. you’ll find it in xbr/legacy directory”

I can find 2xbr-crt-hyllian.cgp but the xbr 2.8c to xbr 2.8a loses me. Can someone please kindly dumb down what he is explaining to achieve this type of look so I can do it myself? Crt-Royale Kurozumi Edition comes close but not exactly how those images look. I have a 65" 4K tv and a GTX 980 Ti if it is relevant somehow.

I appreciate your help

Thx

If you open the cgp file with a text editor, it’ll list all of the shaders that are used. One of those should say something about xbr 2.8c and you just need to change that path to point to xbr 2.8a.

I think he means 2xbr-v3.8a because neither 2.8c nor 2.8a seem to exist.
