Hide all top-level menus except for game playlists in XMB?

First, thank you for Lakka. It’s an amazing complement to RetroArch. I’m getting a ton of joy out of both.

So, I’ve found that when handing the controller over to less familiar users, they will get confused by all the options prior to the game playlists.

I think it would be a nicer experience if I could just hide everything except for game playlists. That way, browsing for a game to play is very straightforward.

Is there an easy (or difficult) way to do that? Thank you!!

No way currently but several people have asked for a “kiosk mode” recently. I’ll shop it around and see what the other guys think.

I think this is a great idea as well. I just got a pi3 and have been experimenting with lakka.

I opened an issue about it on the RetroArch github issue to discuss it. We’ll see how it goes.

This would be pretty awesome - once I have the settings worked out, there is usually no reason to touch them again. And besides, I normally just edit the CFG files directly anyway.

Same here. Also it would be great to “gift” some friends with a setup that is preconfigured. Then they are unable to do any real damage in the settings. As all they will see is the available playlists.

Maybe be able to re-engage the other menus with a cfg flag or a hotkey controller combo.

I’m very interested in this too.

Agreed! Kiosk mode would be great for my aging father. He just wants his Burger Time, darnnit!

I’m interested, too.

Some more ideas:

[ol] [li]Gamepad / keyboard invisible key combination to access the hidden menus.[/li][li]On pressing a particular combination (example: L1+L2+R1+R2) a box is displayed showing a sequence of keys to be pressed prior access to hidden menus.[/li][li]Even better would be as idea#2 but no sequence is displayed, instead, only a timer waiting for a pre-configured sequence of key presses that will make available the menus.[/li][/ol]

I might have quoted some of the ideas above from another part of the forum, I’m unsure! For those not bothered by having the top-level menus visible (such as myself) I would suggest to have an option in settings to shift the consoles before the ADD (+) symbol and the top-level menus after (i.e.simply shifting the current display clockwise or anticlockwise once!)
