HTPC - no soung via HDMI

Hello,

i’m sorry in advance for my bad english.

Recently I installed Lakka on an old unused HTPC (future scope is use it for an arcade cabinet). All works fine, I have two problem which I would like to fix.

 1. HDMI Audio Doesn’t work. I’ve yet read a lot of solution for this issue, but my case is a bit different: with aplay -L seems “HDMI sound device” is not recognized:

Lakka:~ # aplay -L null Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture) default:CARD=SB HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog Default Audio Device sysdefault:CARD=SB HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog Default Audio Device front:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog Front speakers surround21:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog 2.1 Surround output to Front and Subwoofer speakers surround40:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog 4.0 Surround output to Front and Rear speakers surround41:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog 4.1 Surround output to Front, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround50:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog 5.0 Surround output to Front, Center and Rear speakers surround51:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog 5.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround71:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Analog 7.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Side, Rear and Woofer speakers iec958:CARD=SB,DEV=0 HDA ATI SB, ALC662 rev1 Digital IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output

HDMI is hovewere listed as card device:

Lakka:~ # cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [SB ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB HDA ATI SB at 0xfe020000 irq 16 1 [HDMI ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI HDA ATI HDMI at 0xfdbfc000 irq 27

2) N64 roms: The HTPC is based on a Athlon 64 dual core system, but the n64 roms don’t work. When I choose RUN, the “Lakka flower” is displayed for some seconds, and returns to the main menu screen. All other rom’s type work perfectly.

Any suggestion?? Thank you in advance.

Marzio.

Go in Audio Settings, and use the left and right arrows to switch to an audio device to another. You need to close the game and relaunch it to test, for each audio device.

Hi I don’t have the hdmi available in the list in the audio settings menu.

In the first post there the list of the available devices…hdmi audio is no detected (command aplay -L), but is present as card device (command cat /proc/asound/cards).

Thank you anyway for your reply!

Try this one maybe it will work

What is the output of aplay -l (lower case L)

Also be sure to try to switch the two ends of your HDMI cable. Some graphic cards are not well supported by Linux and I got this case one year ago.

I had no sound on my media pc, I tried all the audio devices and nothing, but I had a play around and found that if I changed the audio driver in drivers menu to Alsa and found the right output in audio devices, I got sound working that way, hope that might help you.
