I'm a noob, considering getting Lakka, gotta couple of questions

Ok well more than a couple of questions. I want to make a dedicated emulator pc, so I got a refurbished Windows 7 64bit Dell Optiplex 390. It has a i3 intel cpu at 3.3 ghz, I’ve upgrade the ram from 2gigs to 8gigs, and upgraded the graphics processor from integrated graphics to a AMD hd 6450 sapphire 1gig video card. I originally thought about using Kodi+Rom Collection Browswer+Retroarch, but I am having trouble getting RCB to configure correctly and run seemlessly. So I am considering installing Lakka. It seems to be a great way to make my PC a dedicated gaming console. So my questions are this:

1.) If i back up my PC using the options in windows to a DVD, and I end up not liking Lakka, will I be able to reboot my computer from that and reinstall the original windows 7 operating system? 2.) I had to install the driver for the new graphics card a few times for it to work right. I got screen flickering and I had to uninstall and reinstall some audio drivers so that the video and audio would both output from the hdmi. If I install Lakka, will this disrupt the work that I did with the video card drivers and the audio drivers? 3.) Well I guess it was just a couple of questions. I thought I had more when I started this post. Thanks again.

1.) not that I know of. Unless you’re making a disk image, I doubt it will let you restore it like that.

2.) Lakka will wipe out everything you did, yes. It’s its own operating system, so it will handle all of that itself, for better or for worse.

So in regards to question 2, if I install Lakka on my machine, I will not be able to undo the install and bring back windows7 OS?

In regards to question 1, I’ve seen directiond on how to boot Lakka from the usb drive and not completely install it on the PC to see how your machine might handle it. If I do this will it give me a good idea of how my video card/drivers and audio output will behave?

First you can try to use live mode to see if it works well.

According to the radeon feature matrix, your graphic card (HD 6450 is Northern Islands family) is supported.

Yes if you install Lakka, you can’t bring back Windows 7, the installer doesn’t support dual boot.

Thanks guys. Good to know my graphics card should be supported. I guess I’m just leary about it knowing if i go with lakka I can’t go back.

Well I tried the live boot to test out my system and I’m glad I did because I ran into a few bugs. Zelda OOT ran at what seemed like double speed. In Kid Icarus, the player character would disappear and reappear randomly. And some games would output sound to the PC’s internal speakers ornot at all. No game outputted sound through the hdmi to my tv. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

There are a bunch of threads in this subforum about getting audio through HDMI. I would recommend checking them out.

For the audio, you should be able to switch audio from the gui.

Is it possible to get some logs (lakka system log and audio log) ? Please read this documentation.

Thank you.

Thanks. I’ll try that as well as some other tidbits I found while scouring the forum. I’ll try to get logs next time too. I’m not very computer savy and I am learning as I go. I have an original xbox that I put xunleash and emulators on, but that is the extent of “hacking” i have done.

I know this is an old post, but this was the best one I could find suited to my needs. I have multiple controllers on for Lakka and a USB hub, because I only have one USB port available after I plug in my USB flash drive for the Roms. When I plug in my USB hub, however, it reads it as one controller and whatever controller I already had plugged into the hub is disconnected. Is there any fix for this? (This is on a PC dedicated to Lakka)

Do you have any other hubs you can try? AFAIK, hubs aren’t supposed to announce themselves in such a way that they would be mistaken for gamepads.
